Not exactly, she's the 15 y/o daughter of a good friend . . .

There is a hottie I know who bought a Cannondale with full '80s Campy that is too big for her (she's like 5' 2") and I'm supposed to transfer the components over to a 48 cm vintage Trek frame that I have. I guess that in return for $200 of labor, I'll get to sell the Trek for $200 . . .

Working on bikes for friends is never profitable.

John, you seem to really enjoy working on the bikes. Good for you. How long have you been doing it? To me, not so much anymore because time is always a issue. Its really therapeutic when I get to spend a whole day tearing down my own bike and go through every bearing. After that, it even ride faster.:)

I've always fixed my own bikes, since I was a kid.

Hey, I have a dilemma. A friend is visiting us, she is French and brought us (my son and me) two TdF merchandise jerseys, polka dot and green. They are cool BUT . . . I've always held that you may not wear such unless you won them . . . are these forever closet lint, then?

I wear it. You just have to get up to the top of hill before anyone else. :)

These days it's hard to tell who really won them anyway lol.

LOL - sporting a jersey -

Last evening I was out on a short loop - usually a tick over a quick hour with grades. Just set up some modded drop bar ends and a Pinnin Brevetto mirror for my recent acquired mule. Feeling good (at least in my mind) gobbling O2 was carrying 18 to 19 mph up a longer slight grade and in my mirror spotted a tiny dot of another bike.

Had no idea where he came from, perhaps from out of the woods but in short time he was on my azz. I acknowledged him and cranked on. No reply from him but for the next mile he drafted with some growling tires. As I neared the road to turn for my route, he smoked pass - flying on a mountain bike! Pretty sure it was Captain America in all the glory red, white and blue. Gave me a thanks and vanished. Man that guy was fast.

Great find. Looks like it's mostly there, and in reasonable shape!

I remember those from the NJ seashore,
plentiful to rent for the day to ride the boards.

OK you hardcore roadies, I'm searching for rattan panniers to fit Swiss Pletscher racks. Vintage prefered. Side bottle baskets are not needed, just the standard with cover. Thanks

Couldn't resist this Sunday AM flea market giveaway. Not sure of the age but its scuzzy. Pics taken right after a can of WD40 and air in the tires. JC Higgins made in Austria, sold by Sears. Austria Styria hubs, working 3 speed, dynamo. Lugged frame surprisingly light. Leather saddle, horsehair padded plus full springing. Rides nice.

Thinking of just pulling the bars, fenders, chain guard and leave the frame paint as is. Add vintage drop bars, replace the rims, keep the hubs and make it a rat racer.

My mom had the ladies version of that bike, or real close to it. Man, that is a sweet barn find. Low mileage winner!

(I like the idea of the rat bike, but I would keep the chain guard. That's just me.)
