Agree that they're late 80's record, the spider got thinned out in 91 92 at the latest. I have 92's...

Never mind. Some research on velobase shows that that is a Record crank from 84-95. The redesign was in 96. Mine are indeed 96.

Tubeless tires. man, why didnt i change earlier??

i ran a 1.5" roofing nail over. stabbed right in. click click click..all the way home. i picked it up somewhere on the trail i think. i started hearing it on the road to home. the click almost drove me nuts.

got home, deflated the tire, yanked out the nail. broke the bead on one side and dried the area, and stuck on of the self sticking patches (the clear ones) on the inside..pumped it up and i am going strong. zero leaks. it has been so dry in CA that the stickers are brutal. goatheads. one month and i only had to top off my rear tire once!! this is a game changer for me.

i carry a tube for a catastrophe. do i need special tool to remove the air stem from the rim???

Vash-

welcome to the world of tubeless! They really do rock, I have never had to fix a puncture in over six years (I hope I just did not jinx myself). You will have to add more sealant to the tires every few months. Pick up these items at your LBS to make the addition earlier. Take the stem out of the valve, screw the syringe on, inject the sealant and you're done, no having to reseat the tire bead or any mess. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1443889807.jpg

sorry picture is upside down, stupid iPhone
