Byron, is that a 24" Mongoose with Motomags? And, (going out on a limb here) Comp II tires? Does it weigh over or under 40lbs?

If I guessed wrong, keep in mind that my BMX days were 30+ years ago. ;) And after looking at your other pics, I must say, nice collection!

Not mine, but a 1 off custom build, 26" and I was told over:eek:

I would love to have it, as I think it is fricking Cool, and a few years back, someone built a 16" version pretty much identical to this.. (I have pix somewhere)

Those look like vintage Look pedals, I have a set on my Cilo..

GeorgeK 06-15-2013 10:47 AM

Byron, they are Campy record pedals, Look type. I have some that are over 20 years old, still work like the first day.
I grew up 5 miles from the Cilo factory. Had a few in my youth.

Ah Cilo, I remember those. They use to sponsor a pro team over 20 years ago. they were Cilo Aufina. what's Aufina? There are so many things out in Europe's cycling community, we just don't that type of info in the US. It was a real dark horse sport back then.

That a real pretty Spectrum.

GeorgeK 06-15-2013 11:48 AM

Aufina was a bank.
Thanks, Tom Kellogg was a pleasure to work with, and the bike is so far the one that made me sell all the others, except my steel Kirk.

I am surprise to hear that people like yourself are buying a American made frame instead of a European bike. I wanted a Casati when I was in Italy.

I have had several european bikes. After so many years, when you know exactly what suits you, material and geometry wise, there are several US builders that deliver an excellent product, better than the euros, at least for my needs.

Hey George - nice road (is there any other kind in CH?). Look where I was this morning  Had planned to make my track 'debut' but they were still finishing up some odds & ends on the new surface. Delayed for a couple of weeks. Should be fun.

wow, you have a velodrome in your back yard? I am coming over for dinner and go for a ride afterward. We can bang elbows a bit. Where is that?

Kirk and Kellog are absolutely top notch. quite frankly, I'm not sure who in europe would be 'superior'. darin crisp? (american in italy) throw in a pegoretti and I think you may be done... ;)

Hi Curt,
Great place! Wood? Don't crash. I still have the marks...
As for my roads, come by. There will be a 911 with your name on it.

As a flatlander, not sure how long these old legs would last in the mountains  I'll have to talk to Brian and see how he has been training for that.

That Velodrome is in the Detroit area. Pretty crazy, an outdoor wood track in Michigan. Designed and built by Dale Hughes - see here: IVBP
