>>> The original wheels were tied and soldered .... <<<

kinda forgot about that. I did that on a few of my bikes in the 70s/80s.

I had mentioned here a while back my first of 3 wishes would be able to fight like legend Bruce Lee.

Watching this video (and so many others by Park) - I'm thinking wish #2 would be to have a complete set of every tool that Park makes.....

Park makes some decent tools, for sure, but if I had unlimited funds or a magic wish, I'd probably pick and choose boutique tools from companies like Abbey. I've used a H.A.G. and and it just feels like NASA-level jewelry in the hand.

(here's their new truing stand. It starts at 1400 bucks and is currently sold out)

^^^ Wow! That blows mine out of the water. Mine is very rudimentary. Probably bought it 35 years ago.

This is SOOOO cool. A 1974 Raleigh Super Course. This was a dream bike for me back in the early 70s and just discovering the world of foreign bikes. It looks to be all original. 531 main tubes. He's asking $325. The problem? What do you do with it? It would pretty much be a wallhanger/conversation piece. I can't imagine the handling/ride would be anything near acceptable compared to the topline bikes I've been riding forever. Maybe I'm wrong.

Speaking of Raleighs...

In about 74 my older brother had a beautiful jet-fokking-black and gold Professional. I couldn't afford that, but I did afford a platinum-colored Record. I foolishly left it unlocked, and it got stolen, but I replaced it with my first really good bike, a Falcon with 531 and tubs.

And here is a very nice International, Curt.....looks like the same seller based on the photos....

What a beautiful bike, though.......

Very nice original Raleigh International with original Campagnolo Nuovo Record components and original Brooks saddle. All bearings have been cleaned and repacked. It has new tubular tires, Jagwire cables, brake pads, handlebar wraps and hoods. The frame and fork are made of Reynolds 531 steel. The frame measures 23.5 inches.

Good friend of mine from NSB was in college same time as me and we roomed together for my 3rd year in 1974. He had a Raleigh Pro and got me motivated to go on rides. We went on an over-night camping trip once to St Augustine up US1. A cold front was coming through and we got soaked for half the ride plus had a nasty head wind. The next day though we had a nice tail wind...

^^^^ That 1976 price list is interesting. So the International was just a little less than a Schwinn Paramount. I bought a 1975 Paramount brand new. A P13 road racer , all Campy with Clement Silk tubulars (Those were crazy money - $38/each as I recall). Somehow figured out how to put a rack on it and a buddy of mine and I tent-camped about 600 miles in northern Mich (yeah, touring with a P13 road racer!). Lost count of the punctures in those damn tires. I became exceedingly proficient at repairing silk tubulars on the shoulder of the road.

I'm in the process of restoring a 60/70s track bike and it came with a beat up leather saddle. Could barely make out the logo as an Ideale. Further researched it and found it is a No. 80 Record. And found that Ideale saddles are still being handmade in France in very limited quantities.

You must be rich touring, camping with silk tires. Just thinking about it, my thumb hurts from all that stitching, thimble or not. I remember it well, the Clement Criterium Seta was 40 bucks each by 1985. I was a slave to this little place in the food court working part time after school in my 11th grade year. All my money went to buying tires, shorts and such. Before, I used the latest Specialized folding Turbos for racing and would switch out cheap Panasonic or Cyclopro for training. later years, when I had a real part time job, I upgraded to training with Wobler Neo-Pro and raced with real tires, Clement Criterium Setas and Vittoria CX and CGs up front. Those were the good old days. I never toured on the bike but wouldn't mind doing some light duty outings now. Sounds like fun. You still do that, right?

^^^ I was far from rich. Poured every dollar I made into bikes. I couldn't afford a silk tire replacement on that trip so I just kept adding patches! Haven't done any touring since the 70s. These days, 25-35 mile rides are ideal. Although I do have a 60-mile Gran Fondo/Race coming up next year. Racing at 66 ... I must be an idiot

Scandium. Didn't know much about these but I guess they're one of the all-time great frames:

^^^ I saw that Soooo nice. Says he bought it locally - I wonder what he paid for? I'm sure it was quite a bit less than $1499. But if you add up the Record 10-spd gruppo itself in that condition?

I reluctantly passed on a 2005 LeMond Maillot Jeune this morning It's a 53cm sloping TT but in LeMond sizing that is more like a 55cm. My 51cm LeMond fits great but is just slightly larger than I'd prefer. This thing is original owner with less than 100 miles ridden It's a brand new bike for all intents and purposes and priced to sell! Again, the 7800 Dura Ace gruppo is worth what he's asking for the bike.

Super interesting carbon spine frame. For you skiers, LeMond/Trek sourced the carbon from Hexcel. Fantastic bike.

Did some gravel riding thru the orange groves the other day. No gravel bike - just the LeMond with 23mm road tires It actually did fine on the hardpack of gravel and crushed sea shells. A bit dicey on the soft stuff!

Abdujaparov. You ever see this guy in a sprint. He can't ride straight so people are afraid to be around him. He's caused too many spectacular wrecks at the finish and he's one fast Mofo. I love to see him at the end due to the crashes he cause. I confess. My favorite part of watching bike racing (not if I am in it, or course) is the crashes especially at the track because we get to see 'em all.
