I was just thinking. We have the chopper bike, and a bunch of Schwinn with banana seats in the 70s. Did the kids in the rest of the world have those or similar or even BMX that was so popular in the 80s? Europe, Asia, OZ?

We certainly did but Schwinns in Aus are rare (banana seats). BMX was huge in the 80s and still very popular today.

I've been slowly converting my 1999 Bianchi to Campagnolo Record components over the course of the last 3-4 years. Got a Record titanium cassette recently and an NOS saddle from a fleaBay vendor in Italy. The only thing left now is the wheels. I've got some Campagnolo Barcelona tubular rims but need Record hubs. Then I'll have another 'too nice to ride' vintage bike that will be a wallhanger The bike started out as a $25 garage sale special about 15 years ago.

You know what you need? A very clean Ti Merlin. It now jsut hangs off the rafter in my garage right above the Porsche. If we have an earthquake and it falls on the car its your fault

Must put it back to storage.

That's a nice looking Bianchi. I have a Campag front Neutron wheel if you ever need it. Has less then 1000 miles on it. Someone stole the back off the bike while in the bike rack on top of my car after a ride while I was having a sandwich.

I still can't get over how nice the bikes hang off the wall with those clips. Too bad wife veto your idea in my castle.

Please don't enable me

Right now, I have the 3 on the wall, 2 more on pulley systems that go up in the trusses, 1 on a hook, 1 leaning on a wall, and 4 frames hanging from the trusses. I think there's room for more ....

Bag numero deux done!

Bag numero uno was a success! I made it with eyelets to mount directly to the fork. So I did. 50 mile shakedown ride was great. I got shook. The bag held up.

Last night Elissa and her family was on my mind. Got home after work and cranked out a second bag. Got it mounted today (the one on the bars) and now I'm mocking up a frame pack.

I also hard mounted the rear seatpack with a solid mount. No flexing of the sac. Muy importante.

I ordered $200 more dollars of waxed cotton and could make the MASH "swamp" with all I've got coming. All I can say, is I'm currently in my sac phase!

The mockup clears the bottles. I will make the framepack this weekend, and perhaps a second fork pack for the left fork side. Total bikepacking rig, which is ridiculous, cause I'm just gonna whip out the credit card and hop in a hotel shower .

Frame bag complete! Not perfect, but good learning experience. Kind of like a space-x of sewing. Make it, watch it burn, learn in the process. Much more complex than previous bags. Enough sewing. Time to get out and ride.

The ongoing evolution of my Gravity Deadeye single-speed continues. I originally built it into a sort of monster cross gravel bike with drop bars but was getting a little bored riding gravel roads. So I decided to go the SS rigid mountain bike route. First ride was this morning and it was fantastic. I did maybe an hour of trail riding this morning (already 80s and humid at 9:30 this morning ) and I was sort of whipped! It was an intense ride not so much because of the heat but this bike requires 100% focus. You have to really look ahead to pick precise lines and evaluate the trail surface. There's no relaxing at all. Look away for a second and you take a direct hit to a tree root or something with nothing to absorb it. I can't wait to get back out. Something to be said for back-to-basics riding for sure. It's light, it's simple, it's super responsive, and it's ninja-like quiet

Yes, the 20" bikes became a world wide phenomenon in the 70s and 80. RALEIGH in England produced chopper style and BMX. Australia, had Crisp and many other local brands, as did most countries

New Bike Day

2024 Specialized CruX Expert.

The best gravel bike I've ever ridden. So comfortable. There are many who think this can replace all the bikes in the quiver with different wheel sets. I'll be getting a second set of wheels and mounting some 32's on it to see if it can function well as a road bike with all-day capability. I've already had it on some long days on gravel; it climbs and carves extremely well. Pretty happy about this.
