I don't mean to be a dick about this, but name a country and I'll find elements of racism, often institutionalized racism.

Interesting topic.

I don't claim that racism is non-existent in those places, only that they are far less racist than the USA.

Tobra jumps into this thread with the statement, pulled straight from his ass, that the USA is "the least racist country on earth". Based on what? It's an extremely ignorant statement, IMO and travel experience.

No, I think that you are wrong on Brazil. Have you lived there? Please relate your experiences regarding racism there.

As for the USA, it's gradually getting better but less than 50 years ago we had South Africa style apartheid in the Southern states with blacks not allowed to drink the same water or use the same restrooms as whites. If you think that changes 180 degrees while a lot of the same people are still alive, you live in a dream world. PARF would be such a dream world.

I agree 100%. I already said that there are places more racist than the USA and those Asian countries would be on the list. So would Mexico and all of Central America.

FWIW, I do not "see racism everywhere" but I see it in spades in anonymous Internet posts here and in the comment section of YouTube, the NY Post, etc...

After living in Florida and getting to know many Cubans, the whiter the Cuban skin tone the more raciest they are towards darker skin whether that darker skin is Cuban, African, Mexican, or other nationality.

The issue in Florida is not with American blacks. Most blacks in Florida are Haitian, not African blacks. I found the general consensus in Florida to be that no one liked the Haitians.

Of course there are many non-raciest Cubans and Florida but this is the general impression I received through conversations with persons over a 7 year period.

Very true... in a country as vast as America there will be pockets of very accepting people and pocket of racists... heck in California there are different levels of acceptance of race... double heck there are parts of Los Angeles where certain ethnic group are accepted or rejected!

Seems to be a goofy thread going bad quickly. So now we have an OP making that other thread of some couple house shopping bad. I wish them well whatever they decided. But you made a judgement on a couple who were shopping for a dream home and who knows, they might be the most generous folks. Have you ever moved into a neighborhood seemingly pleasant and later find out the mid-aged white caucasion male neighbor is mentally unstable with guns? Should we label him too?

Is it not in our best interest to always lend a hand or offer not needed stuff whatever to others, regardless of race or country? Why does the OP point out his loaning of a coat to a Mex-american? So here we are, Porsche owners who have the fortunate means to have but why brag of a little deed like that... isn't that just a routine normal thing to do? Shouldn't we be doing enough little simple things like going out of our way on a regular basis - funnel funds to shelters, donating bikes, good clothing, shoes, coats and yes, for the slum lords do you provide toys for struggling tenants of other ethnicity with kids at Christmas... spend the time to wrap them too, etc.. What's any of this have to do with color or race?

At one point, I believe KKK membership in the US was 4.5 million out of about 100 million. By some accounts, it dropped as low as 5,000 in the mid-2000s, but now may be up to 10-11X that number.
But bottom line is, a bunch of old white men sitting at their computers are typically going to be blind to discrimination, unless they imagine it's related to them. That, of course, would be horrific.
