ouch! are you OK? even if you feel fine, I'd see a doctor, that's a hard hit and I think you'll be feeling it tomorrow. Hope it all works out for you, cars have been increasing in value a lot the last 6 months. Get a fair replacement value for it.

figure the motor is worth about half the value of the entire car
your pic shows why a '73 or later is a safer buy than the nice oil tank moved forward '72 you can find another nice 911; maybe even a nicer one tho that blue is a beauty |

Dennis,
Sorry for your misfortune to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Your neck must be killing you, judging from the side impact. I'm sure you've been to the Dr. already. I'm judging from the responses that many of the posters don't live in a town as small as Summerside. Fortunately, the insurance companies can sort it out. Hope you are able to get replacement value out of it. Good hunting for a replacement. Les

From the personal side: Glad you are relatively o.k. Could have been much worse. It's only a car. Get the neck checked out, now and later, and pertinent info in order.
From the pcar side: Nothing. |

Thanks everybody! I was busy all day, just back now. I read all your comments and I appreciate each and every one, and read them all over a couple of times, it made me feel better.
I'm not hurt, a few aches and kinks just now and two knots on my head and a small cut to my head. And a sore ear for some reason maybe seat belt rub?? But I am really BUMMED, not mad at any body just bummed out. I've owned lots and lots of nice cars, but this one was my fav. but.....It's only a car and things could have been much worse. Have to lick my wounds and make do. Thanks again |

So.... Just a bit of update., I'm a pretty easy going guy and like to find the humour in everything, if I can. In this case there wasn't much. After the paramedics were done and the police got statements and the tow truck arrived I thought I'd better get in the action. I knew the tow T driver so I showed him where to hook his hooks (he knew I was concerned) and appreciated that I helped.
Then I noticed my windshield was laying out in the street about 40 ft away, all one piece, no cracks or anything. So I went over picked it up and managed to get it in the cabin of the car. (That's why it's now taped on the car). I had a big audience by this time and felt maybe I shouldn't be doing that but did it any way. Heard a couple of "atta boy" s, so that made me feel a bit better. I think they were on my side then. PS (I think my head hit the inside mirror as it was on the floor of the car) By this time my wife was on her way to see how everything was. She's my sweetie and my pal and loves this car as much as I do so we were both a bit sadden by it all. I'll try to keep ya'll in the loop with any news., Tks again |

That's a damn shame. What a nice looking car. The big thing is that you are OK. The car can (and will have to) be replaced. That looks like a significant hit due to the scope of damage and you are lucky to have been able to walk away. I agree that it is time to lawyer up, that is not an everyday automobile and she ran a stop sign. In a hurry or not you don't run stop signs...Christ it could have been a kid crossing the street.

Three things:
Yes, it's totaled. Second: you're going to have soft tissue damage and it won't necessarily show up in the next few days. it could take weeks; even months. Ask me how I know. Third, as nice as she was to admit fault at first, don't count on that as this moves forward. Attorneys & friends get involved and it suddenly becomes the fault of the 'guy in the little sports car.' 80% chance this will happen. Ask me how I know. If you are in Canada, cut that 80% to 40%, eh.

Duly noted, thanks I'll be careful. I'm a old man with a lot of aches and pains anyway so I'm used to it. That and I got a lot of ragin' Cajun in me. I'll be OK

wow! that is a gnarly hit on the driver's side. i am glad you are okay. that would have been catastrophic in a lesser car. goes to show how tough our little cars are engineered.
