Btw, those of you from the baby boomer generation really don't have much room to talk about effing up the world. Fix the mess called Washington DC and then get back to me about "those damn kids".
If you look at voting trends...you will see that the current mess was elected by younger voters (who though that they could vote themselves more of other people's money without affecting the economy, employment, etc.).

You think that maybe a child from a family of 10 children might be an exception? Especially the oldest?

I see exceptions to the stereotype too...but that is why they are noticeable. They are exceptions.

I suppose its a matter of perspective. I certainly didnt vote for billions wasted on endless wars, government spending and corporate loopholes.

In a sense, you're stealing MY money for decades to come under the guise of "freedom".

But yeah, I'm young, stupid and know nothing.

Keep your opinions in PARF.

Fint, the under 30 crowd isn't solely to blame for today's mess. They don't vote in any great numbers and certainly weren't enough to sway the vote. Furthermore, I don't see today's agendas being pushed by a bunch of "damn kids". Sadly, the people that caused this mess are probably your peers.

Bravo! When will we get over "it is all those people in that state" BS.

There are hard working conservatives living in the coastal states... and "alternate lifestyles" folks living in the heartland.

The first step to making this a better country is to stop playing the blame game.

And then everyone voting Libertarian

Because it's never MY fault. Always YOUR fault. Personal responsibility disappeared long before the millennial generation.

Another bit of irony, baby boomers complaining about the youth today......aren't those your kids? Of course not yours, because I'm sure they're perfect. But the children of your generation? If so, aren't the parents (your generation again) somewhat to blame? Oh what a twisted web we weave....

My opinions no more belong in PARF than yours or those of anyone else. I have not breached the topic of political party, candidate or policy....nor that of religion.

Folks afraid to hear other people's opinion are exactly the ones that created many of the problems we have now in this country. They deserve the government, economy and sad state of affairs/things in this country that they are the first to decry. Be a big boy and discuss the matter like an adult (like everyone else here) or simply move on to another thread.

As far as "stealing" your money...I have no idea what you are talking about. I earned every penny I have...so maybe you really are "young, stupid and know nothing" as you say.

Folks who continue to elect those who promise them greater shares of other people's money are directly responsible for the very things they complain most about. Apparently that is you since you took my post so personally.

Oldest child is 22: done with college (academic scholarship), working in Midtown at a job with benefits and in her chosen career
Second child is 20: in the USN and compliment of the US taxpayers will graduate with a degree in Chinese; employment fairly certain
Third child is 18: freshman in Electrical Engineering. Tough work but it seems to suit him. All he has to do is graduate w/ a 3.0 or better.

All three will support themselves, they will graduate college debt free, none have credit cards, and most importantly, they can all drive a stick. My work here is through.

Millennials will do just fine - just stay out of debt and work hard!

Actually, they vote in large numbers is some elections...certainly enough to sway the election.

I agree that that they are not solely to blame. Many of their parents did a pretty crappy job as well (but the thread was not about their parents), but the generation we are discussing here are even worse due to that poor parenting and the perception that government is supposed to do everything for them. Waaah....my student loans are too high, someone needs to pay them for me. My salary is too low, the government should make my employer pay more. My health insurance is expensive, it should be subsidized. All these are special little goodies for them, bought with other people's money.

I think maybe the last few years have opened their eyes...and maybe they will grow out of this. I hope so.

Some will, many others will not (because they seem unable to stay out of debt or work hard). For every one like you describe, there are probably 5 or 6 who are unemployed/underemployed and have accomplished little or nothing. Exceptions are just that, exceptions. BTW, sound like you/they did a great job.

As I said before, arguing with you is like choosing between hospital food and airline food. I also said it's my perspective. You can go ahead and twist it however you like.

One thing is an absolute truth here. I'll be paying off your generation's mistakes long after you're dead and buried.

Substitute an argument for the personal remarks and we might be able to have an adult conversation. Otherwise, you represent the problem and not the solution.

As soon as you talk straight. Others out there worked equally as hard as you to get somewhere in life and detest having their livelihood squandered by the actions of other people.

???

Not sure what you are talking about. As far as I am concerned, anyone who has earned money should get to keep almost every penny (And certainly not have it redistributed to others). Personally, I would cut the federal government to the responsibilities enumerated in the Constitution...which would eliminate most federal agencies and all income-based social welfare.

If you are talking about national debt, I suspect that it has doubled since you have been voting (assuming you are in your mid twenties). In other words, it has increased more since you have been voting than in the previous 100....so don't blame everyone who came before you. You get/got the government you elect/elected.

Seem like straight talk to me. Now, how about you try it?
