When it rains.....
More rain forecast for the weekend, possibly heavy. The Colorado, Brazos, San Jacinto and Trinity Rivers are in full flood stage or will be shortly. Lots of people being told to evacuate in several towns near here.
Meanwhile, heat index is currently 98 and like a sauna outside and did I mention mosquitoes ?? Just now starting to show up but will be the mosquito coast within a few days with all this standing water... best stock up on Deep Woods OFF...

Lake Conroe is full so they are going to release a bunch of water which means more water in places that already have plenty. Most of the stuff near me our that I have to deal with is back to normal, buffalo bayou, allen parkway, 288.

Last time I was at Lake Conroe, it was WAY low. At least deer season is not for a while, so they will have a full crew working.

The road to get to my daughters HS is closed and not expected to open until June 25th. A month away.

Turns a 5 minute drive into 20 minutes each way.

I spent nearly 3 hours running her around today.

Could be worse, my house is dry and my family is fine.

Doing better than a lot of other folks.

That is funny Jolly.
I'd like to apologize for my earlier post about this bring the water needed and breaking the drought.
The ongoing coverage of this disaster is clear that many are very impacted and it will be a long time to recover and rebuild. And family's have lost members.
In view of all that's happening, my post sees a little flip, but was not meant to.

Having lived thru my share of natural disasters, I truly hope the end of this one is near and that folks affected are able to get life back on track and have a smooth recovery

Aloha Richard.

It's been sunny and not rainy the past couple of days. Even the humidity has been down a bit. Yesterday morning the dew point was only 69°. Looks like we've got a good chance of rain tonight and tomorrow and then a week if nice clear days.

This is the Brazos River not far from my house as of yesterday at about 48 feet. It is normally below 20. Supposed to crest at over 50 on Monday. The river bank is higher here than most places so there is a lot of flooding behind where I took the photo. My house is behind a levee a few miles away. I don't anticipate a problem. Fingers crossed.

We just had a very impressive display of lightning in the past hour. I was at work downtown and the rain was so heavy that I couldn't see the building across the street looking out of the window.

I miss the electrical storms.

We liked to turn off all the lights, sit in the living room, looking North out over the lake at the lightning. If it actually hit the lake, wouldn't it kill a bunch of fish? There were a couple times it looked like it hit the water, but maybe it hit something by the 1097 bridge.

I think that is enough water to fill up Lake Tahoe about 60% Tahoe would cover Texas with 13" of water. I don't know if that is true or not, but every free newspaper in Lake Tahoe since at least 1975 has repeated it as fact. Next time you are in Lake Tahoe, get of those papers out of the thing if front of the grocery store. It will have a fun facts list about Tahoe, trust me.

I definitely don't miss floods, well I like the song, natch, and that is a pretty cool picture of Stevie's statue, walking on water, but on a scale of 1 to totally sucks, floods pretty much totally suck. If it got up to the bottom of the Congress Avenue Bridge, would it drown the bats? I hope not.

Lady Bird Lake (Towne Lake) is a near constant level. It came so fast that there was no time to react to the inflow, so Stevie walked on water. Once they opened Longhorn Dam, things went back to normal.

Lake Travis has risen 35 feet in the month of May, most of it in the last 7 days. 76% full.

The road to my daughters HS that turned the commute from 5 minutes door to door to 20-25 minutes because any way around is miles out of the way.

They expect it to be closed till June 25th ish.

What it normally looks like.
