pour-over coffee?

i'm not a coffee expert or anything.

a friend gave me a coffee funnel thing. a ceramic one, and a bag of Philz coffee. she had it ground to #5 or something. i dont have the official long nozzled coffee water pourer thing so i use a regular kettle. pour control sucks.

i'll admit the coffee tastes brighter. very good. not so sure it is worth the effort, when i can chug store bought drip stuff without much prejudice.

anyone doing this long term? anyone that doesnt live in Portland OR..

clean up is a piece of cake! bonus!

I've had a similar Saeco for 5 years and it's fantastic. Stagger into the kitchen, push a button, and in a minute you have a really good cup of coffee.

For a Sunday morning treat we use a Chemex

I have 3 Jura Capresso E8 machines (one is a spare!). Great machines.

^ James is the master.

I have stumbled into his house and have been presented with a very fine shot of espresso.

I simply boil my coffee and pour it through a strainer. Put a cup of water in a pot. Add a tablespoon of coffee. Boil. Strain. You don't need no stinkin' coffee machine Mon!

I don't get the fancy coffee machines. Beans in grinder, ground coffee in French press, perfect cup of coffee every time.

Same here.

Although at work good old Mr. Coffee ($20) does the job fine (still grind my own beans before I leave for work.)

Thou I have to admit James machine is awfully tempting.

I think the only automatic coffee machine worth buying is the Clover. Otherwise a French press is just as good or better than the fancy machines.

Good to see you my friend! I've gone on to a straight razor with the safety for clean up. It's fun! Man that blade is sharp. Still an amateur but haven't cut myself yet.

Becoming more of a purest in my old age.

Old Age?? I don't think so. You have a steady hand, a razor and an unmarked neck! You're a pup!

French Press. Good coffee. Every day. For years. That's why I'm so spunky and bright all the time!

One more here for the french press. A few decades ago we got our hands on a cast iron burr grinder. It ground beans too course for a filter machine but we tried a press.
Too easy. If you can boil water and turn a crank you're good to go.

Best

I use a pour over funnel every morning. I grind my beans espresso fine. Been doing it this way forever.

I'm the only coffee drinker in the house so no need for a pot every day.

Don't want the clutter of a coffee maker/machine on the kitchen counter either.

French press when I go camping typically.

You guys are way too fancy. I just chew on the beans and wash them down with a gulp of water...

Weekdays I grab a cup from Dunkin Donuts, or Chock-full nuts....

Weekends.... I make coffee at home... This is my latest madness

Siphon brewing

https://www.stumptowncoffee.com/brew-guides/vacuum-pot

The Stumptown vid is sort of dysfunctional... in that I can cook up some eggs or waffles and multi-task and make an awesome cup-o-joe at the same time...

Siphon brewing is a combo of many methods... and makes a nice cuppa..
