At least the highest voltage you will see is 12VDC...

about 15 gallons later. Gas is quite bad. Glad I'm not doing this inside.

Ignition won't ever work. That's a piece of 'yard art'.

Like I said, 12VDC max.

Tell me you aren't putting gas in food containers.

I love that electrical panel, thanks for sharing that. Dieter had a great time getting that wired up back in the day. I don't think any of that is too scary though. At least it was made in the hand built days of Porsche. So all of that can be hand-rebuilt as needed. We all are looking for challenges on car projects. If it is very easy, what's the point of engaging in it!?

empty water cooler bottles that aren't refillable George. I ran tests years ago with gas and oil. They are impervious forever. I will throw them in the truck and take to a gas station for disposal.

Completely agree on the challenge. I'm in the middle of an impact bumper car bumper redesign, that's a challenge.

Here is the logic I interpret:
Stability means less nimble
Unstable 911 is more nimble.
Ok. but is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Is "exhilaration" a euphemism for "unstable"
Many would consider the unstable car the inferior car, no?

Not my "statements."
That info came from (copy & paste):

The 928 was considered to be a very good GT car. Bigger, more comfortable, more luxurious, faster. It really wasn't intended to be a 911, it was the answer to a question that most Porsche people weren't asking.

Is that electrical panel any more complicated than any typical modern 90s car?

We had to eff with a MB SUV a few years ago for one of my shows. It had something crazy like 210 fuses.

New fuel filter
Bench cleaned the old fuel pump
Fresh oil and filter
New battery (old one lost charge)

Turned key.

Fired right up. Ran rough for 20 seconds and then evened out. Ticking on right side valve cover so a sticky lifter I'm sure.

Absolutely glorious sound, just at idle.

It is. Porsche recognized the pronlems inherent in the 911 and the 928 was designed to fix all of them, as it was supposed to replace the 911 at some point.

A 928 is heavier, which is where most people feel the loss of "nimbleness". It has a better weight distribution, a higher polar moment of inertia and a rear suspension that was designed to reduce the tail happy nature of sports cars up to that point. The reality is, a well-driven 928 can make a 911 driver work really hard to keep up. This is especially true of the early, 4-cam 5 speed cars, or an early '80's ROW S version. The average Porsche driver could probably go faster in a 928 than a 911 before he put it in the weeds.

No, not really. Some of the cars in the late 80's were also just as complicated.

Operative word being "Mystery". Or maybe it's "Marvel"?

Or take it out (same covers as a 944, so easy) and soak in some ATF for a couple of days. Should loosen up. Old 944 tuner's trick.

If you think maintaining a 944 (or 951!) engine is a pain, get a 928 - it's the same thing as having two of them welded together!

Change your belts before you start it again. AFAIK the 928s have interference engines just like the 944 / 951 - bad belts have caused much cursing and throwing of tools after new / excitable owners fired up engines that had old or dry-rotted belts.

I don't even want to think about how much $$$ it'd take to replace 32 bent valves (*shudder*) or did they do away with the interference design on those?
