I love parts of it, and only like other parts, but a LOT of work and imagination went into that car. I have to admit I was a little tired of hearing about louvered decklids and drilled door handles on his builds but I am genuinely interested to hear more about this one.

Even the haters have to admit this guy has brought a lot of passion into our hobby.

RIP Karen. That's a shame. I wouldn't trade spots with him for all the money (and cool cars) in the world.

This part is interesting: "Over talks with the gentlemen at Pirelli, Magnus mentioned that they ought to fill the growing void of sport tire options in vintage sizing. After some deliberation, Pirelli has debuted a line of performance-oriented tires ranging in sizes from 15-inch to 17-inch for those of us who still enjoy the vintage driving experience. This collaboration is fantastic news for all of us as enthusiasts and to see a company working with an enthusiast such as Magnus to reach out to its customers is a welcome sight."

Oh geez. We could all have fun busting on Magness, but in this case we totally owe him the respect of offering our condolences on his wife. That sucks!! Cars are one thing, but he should not have to deal with the death of a spouse at his age.

Magness, accept my condolences.

We'll get back to "discussing" your cars soon.

I guess the new hipster cool thing is to not like Magnus. I don't get it. I'm not a RWB guy but others are. To each his own.

Magnus 964

Love him or hate him, Magnus has become a Porsche icon. I am in awe of his passion and abilities although I do not love his builds as I find most to be ugly, overdone and/or underpowered. The 964 build is near perfect IMHO, although I am just not a huge lover of his wheels. Original 930 Fuchs would have been a better choice but the rest of the car is tremendous.

Have to admit I'm a big fan of Magnus and I am stunned at how nice his cars turn out. I admire someone who can take what is clearly a passion and turn it into a successful business life. Regarding this particular car...the only thing I wish he'd done was do something with the front bumper. That has always been one thing that, visually, I didn't like on the 964s.
Very sad to hear about his wife.

correct, Rod did the fender louvers. I think they fit better on some of the stuff Rod does, the "outlaw"/ratrod 356 stuff.

The car is interesting. I like brightwork. I like R style tail lights, I like shaved rain gutters, I like sports purpose interior bits, I like SWB rear view mirrors, etc. But, not all on the same car. The design elements just don't seem to flow with this one, sometimes less is more maybe?

the mechanical bits seem top notch though, 3.6 punched out to 3.8, big brakes, nice adjustable suspension, etc.

Hi - any links to these tires and sizes? sounds like more manufactures should talk with Magnus! he can jump all sharks in the Atlantic if this is the result!

I love the cars Magnus has put together and honestly he is one of the reasons I got the Porsche bug. I saw Urban Outlaw and discovered what a long hood was and how cool they are. I don't LOVE the his 964 but I think its a cool custom car with lots of work invested in it, built the way he likes it, so that doesn't mean I have to like it. Well done Magnus!

Dayum, everyone is a little touchy in the forum when it comes to Magnus, maybe just a spelling mistake?

Maybe...he always does it. I was just amused - I figure one benefit of being the most over-exposed guy in 911-world is that everyone gets your name right. Guess not.

I think labeling this fella an icon is giving waaaay too much credit. The 911 is an icon, maybe Porsche itself. But a fella that just mildly (and sometimes terribly) modify's 911's? Uh, no.

not a fan. I do like the vented front fenders, but not on this car. maybe on a earlier long hood model with louvered rear deck lid. just looks out of place on this one

I like his passion albeit misguided on some things. The wheels?

Its not like he took a pristine 911 and hacked it, looks like he took a project car and made it his own. Each to his own. Not any worse than some of the crazy stuff that was done in the 1980's to 911's.
Cheers..

Awesome job Magnus!

I can't wait to read the driving reviews and see the videos of this monster.

People often say that, but when you put a 964 next to a Longhood...
(I'd say Porsche did an excellent job)

That said, the rear bumper could be a little smaller...

Mechanically speaking, this car employs some of the best hardware out there for a 964 - Aesthetically, I always love the raingutter delete and the front lip is refreshing, but it ends there. The brightwork looks out of place on such a modern car - and the tail-end mods, while executed well, do not necessarily go well together. swapping the whale for a duck and losing the center reflector would vastly improve that ass.

If doing bodywork and taking off the wipers, why remove everything and fill in the area?

I'm guessing it's so he can sell it and the new owner can put them back on, maybe?

I'm doing a cheap build and did that on my 914 that I knew I wasn't going to drive in the rain.
