Personally I'd probably not want either though mixing the two would be close to perfect. I'm a certified weight freak. My 73 is just a steel unibody with no interior other than a dash and a fixed back bucket, with a 3.2 and mag case 915. Whole car is 2175 lb and more fun than you can shake a stick at. That's what I love. Mixing the ultralight Ruf carbon unibody (as a longhood) with Singer styling would be perfection. This Ruf vs. Singer thing is funny. For most of us it's like who would you rather date, Paulina Porizkova or Cindy Crawford. Definitely Paulina, of course.

More like Stephanie Seymour or Cindy Crawford.
Not like I'd kick either out of the garage for peeing on the floor (motor oil tsk tsk). |

How many of these cars have been sold?
I wonder if we will see more of this type of new old car, as the new cars are becoming large, heavy, complicated etc.? G |

I think Singer has made/contracted 50-75 cars so far.
I would image people who can afford a $500k Porsche are likely not on the OT grousing about the Singer - Ruf cost to benefit trade factors.... They'd probably buy one of each and enjoy them both. |

I can tell you there are double the number of cars in production than your figure and the list is increasing at a high rate. What Shaun said true. Singer is commissioned by each buyer to make their 911. The buyers like this look, so that what Singer makes. I can tell you that in person, each Singer has it's own personality. |

They're both beautiful. If I were at the point where I were speccing out a Singer, I'd have a Ruf in the garage already and ready to add to the collection. I'd still own both and a '67 Fastback for the wife.

Exactly. If you can afford either, you can likely afford both.

as a guy who's unfortunately out of the game thanks to a ridiculous speculative market i'd be happy with any 69 through SC with a cage, R comps and a second gear that lifts the front inside tire at will.
everything else, IMO, misses the point. that's just for me of course and certainly doesn't represent others feelings on cars.

Singer: Over 160 cars total sold/on the order books !
They are up to something new and very special. The most I got out of my "secret" source is that a prominent Formula 1 engineering company is involved - YOWSAH !! And one of our clients is having Ruf build him the last carbon fiber (exposed finish) special for him

Another builder of fine 911 restomods is Accumoto. I've seen a few up close. No idea what one of theirs would cost.

I read an article about a year ago quoting a Porsche executive and they do recognize Singer (and niche manufacturers like them) as competing for sales of their higher end models (918s, GT3s, GT2s, etc). It's exclusivity they can't quite match.

Call me crazy but the Singer car speaks to me. I don't want or need bleeding edge technology or performance. I want a most excellent time capsule to drive on sunny weekends with my redhead wife who looks far better than I do. First world old man issues yes. Sadly there is no freaking chance my bank account will facilitate the Singer car. No worries...I do have the amazing redhead

Interesting that singer is poaching Porsche sales. Has to be a good thing.
Sort of like Porsche admitting there is a distinct market for manual transmissions verses PDK 911s. Ruf has coexisted for decades with Porsche. Singer will be a compliment in the same way. Although I want one of each, I'm strangely satisfied with my car. I know it inside out. Warts and all. Kind of like an old golden retriever. Happy to see you. Not a fast as they used to be. Loyal companion, but prone to peeing when they get excited. 160 cars! That's fantastic. So much passion. And rewarded with success. Deservedly so. 👍 |

I haven't really paid attention to them, but after clicking thru their gallery, I am really impressed. Some of those cars are absolutely gorgeous.
