I always liked his style and of course his creations.
In an interview he claimed to not be any where close to being an accomplished guitarist. In a documentary many years ago he tells of the time when he contacted Clapton to accompany him (or the other way around) to go see J. Hendrix at some club. They went. Townsend said that it was dreadful..."My career is over." . ![]()

How about Robert Johnson and Chuck Berry? No rock or blues guitarist can play anything without licks influenced by these two. No Duane Allman? No Steven Stills?
