Many/most folks have a strong desire to "fit in". Some of the folks that already fit in turn to peer pressure to get folks to fit in and or humiliate them. It's the desire to fit in at all costs and peer pressure that creates these sort of situations.
This is a darn shame.

The fraternity environment might be getting a bad rap here. These events don't necessarily happen in the frat house.
I know of two personal situations where no frat house was involved yet one person died from over consumption and another could easily have died had he not been so drunk and relaxed. The question that needs to be answered is, "are drinking practices on campus better or worse that 20 or 30 years ago. Seems these events/deaths from alcohol are more frequent at least in the news today. Very sad to see this happening. |
