Love stouts and that looks to be great stout. In general, the new batches of stouts from various breweries should be ready for the fall...

This is beer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinheitsgebot

Not that the other stuff isn't tasty, but really it's "interpretive beer" LOL

AHHHHH Stouts

Aaron Burnham over at Burnham Performance educated me on the wonders of the varieties of beers, including Stouts.

Here is one that my father and I loved to share. (not to expensive either)

That one looks good. I'll be brewing my fall beers pretty soon. A vanilla Porter is one of my go to fall beers. I'll be doing a Coconut Caramel Brown Ale and probably a nice Scottish Ale then have my Kolsch on tap for a good generic beer with real flavor.
If you can find one, look into a Dark Hallow by Blue Mountain Brewery in VA. I'm jealous of that beer. I'm going to start experimenting but it's going to be a tough one to recreate. Incredibly balanced Bourbon Barrel aged Imperial Stout.

I love that beer. It's right down the street. My wife is friends with the one of the owners of that place. Next time I see him, I will try to wrench the secret formula from his grasp!! (he says he is looking for a 914 btw...)

One thing that he said which was interesting (which might be common knowledge, but was news to me), is that the explosion of microbreweries in America is not a new thing- that before prohibition, there were microbreweries everywhere. Only in the latter half of the 20th century did the mass production beers take off. I could be off on the timeline, but, in general, things are getting back to the way they used to be. Good time to be a beer drinker.

(edit)- I asked my wife about Dark Hollow and she said he plays with the formulation every year, so it's a moving target. She then reminded me we get a free bottle from him every year at christmas. She said "don't you remember, we got two bottles?!?!"
I said.... "Uh... no...."
Must be good stuff!

When you can find this stout, it is a very good stout. Just be careful, ABV is stated at 18% but can be as much as 20% or more. One or two of these and good night.

Dad and my Brothers were up at the Lake and we decided to have good old regular Coors. Hadn't had one in a long while. It was the end of an everyone caught their limit and hot as heck day. Funny how that beer tasted so darn good!
