At least it would have had a softer landing than hitting the ground outside the house.

Irma came over us yesterday. We didn't even get any rain! (And we need it.) Just cool temperatures and clouds.

Actually it drove itself about 8" into the soft rain soaked ground.

About to do an emergency surgery, and it's pretty old school - no computers, all hand written notes.

If they don't get the gas stations back up soon it's going to be a real problem soon though. Especially if people who evacuated start coming back.
We were planning to return from VA to Bonita Springs tomorrow, but there's still no power and now restrictions on water as the treatment plants are full from rain.

Soren, Are you in Naples? My boss said there is an 8 p.m. curfew in place.

Here in the Gainesville area is a great place to be for a 'cane. We're plenty in-land from either coast, plenty of high ground.

Some areas in Gainesville got flooded - to be expected, it started raining here 30 hours before the 'cane hit.

Big problem now is the Santa Fe river flooding from all of the rain further north... as in 32 feet above normal level. Several local bridges were closed cutting off rural areas from Alachua County and getting to the interstate, etc. Massive detours planned, etc.

Sometimes 15 feet would not be enough.
September 13, 2008, Category 2 Hurricane Ike caused extensive damage in Texas, with sustained winds of 110 mph (175 km/h), a 22 ft (6.8 m) storm surge, and widespread coastal flooding.

22 feet minus 15 feet equals 7 feet.

Earlier in this thread I told you and showed a few pics of the pine trees around my house. The entire time during the storm we heard pine cones hitting the roof. We starting cleaning up today and I counted 17 pine trees in and on the edge of the yard. We decided to make a pile of cones as we cleaned the yard. This is about half ......

Is the elev certificate the lowest place on the ground or the first floor elevation?

My elevation certificate lists my first floor at a min of 12'.

Put 7.5 hours on the plane yesterday hauling supplies to Marco island and Lake Wales.
The supplies to Marco were headed to Everglades City and Imokolee.
