Ft. Myers looks pretty much normal now. Bonita flooded bad. Naples is just today coming back to life, some gas stations have fuel (reg only), pretty much all restaurants are closed, including fast food. Went looking for food - Publix closes at 6, tried Wally World and there was literally nothing on the shelves. I took a nice picture of the bare meat and dairy area. Looks like something out of a movie. If you don't have to come back yet, don't.

just got back on line this AM
house is fine no damage other then a few shingles and minor drips from the post andrew 25+ year old roof lots of branches broken but all the trees survived we only got cat 1 winds 70 mph with 80-90 in gusts lost power for 2 days then got power on for two more days then it died again for 2 more ran power across the street to my cuban deer hunter buddy when I had it and after we all lost power he got loaned a generator and ran us power back the same way thankfully we had a battery powered fan [6 D-cells] to move air and ace HW store had more D-cells after the storm to keep it running used a car battery and a car radio inside for info and a 18v garden LED spotlight worked fine on 12 volts to see or read was only $12 at wal mart for the LED garden spotlite and was in abundance after the storm I just cut off the connector and hooked up direct to the car battery neg is the ribbed side wire + is plain lots of cuts and bruises from the board up and clean up ect but no real injury's only real loss was 1/2 bigger KOI in the pool do to debris and no air pumps running my 18v power tools were a savior and I bought at HD a hand held Ryobi air inflation pump that saved the remaining KOI and GF with it's 18v Li batterys Last edited by nota; 09-20-2017 at 09:55 AM.. |

![]() Regarding the battery powered fan....Ryobi makes a "hybrid" (cordless or electric) fan that uses their LiIon battery pack. It's on my wish list as would come in very handy during times like this, although my 2 window rattlers are my first line of defense. Good luck with rest of clean up....and rest of the hurricane season as well!

separate question on the eyewall and newer steel roof panels ?
did any fail bend or blow away ? here in this one,or down island or texas ? with common cat 4-5 storms I am wondering if they are worth it ? and survived the test of the cat 5 real world ? |

Came back Sunday evening 11p.m. without power. 11:50 Power!
Lost two coconut palms, one Christmas palm, and the top roof screens over the pool.

Thanks, I've had it 5 years now and I've been very happy with it. I'm headed back up to Misouri next week and will have over 30hrs this month, which is a lot for me. I'm waiting for some new toys for the plane, hope they get here before I leave.
It's a 1960 model, but it had a pretty extensive refurbish by the previous owner. I've just added some minor upgrades.
