This was the corvette that was stolen from me in Las Vegas back in 1985. Police said it was pretty hard to miss if it was being driven so they said it probably went thru and chop shop.

Soo what I've done is installed a hidden switch that turns off the electric fuel pump in my Hemi/Vette, the 72 Porsche and my classic Mini Cooper.

harvardma has a good idea. I was looking at the 123ignition products for other reasons and I thought the bluetooth capability was unnecessary, but the anti-theft capabilities are genius.

Nothing stops a tow truck, but that is far more conspicuous than someone sneaking up on a car and driving off.

Thanks for all the nice words and suggestions. I’ve got Hagerty insurance and they’ve been fine thus far. If anyone has experience processing a claim with them, I’d be interested in hearing their experience. Also, Porsche makes a protective device for Classic Porsche’s: https://www.autoblog.com/2018/12/19/porsche-anti-theft-systems/

There is a car alarm for interiors that when tripped emits an ear-drum breaking alarm only in the car's interior that I've always liked the idea of. Lo-Jack "tracking device" is also effective.

I use a steering wheel "The Club" that locks thru the steering wheel's spokes and up against the inside of the windshield and prevents steering wheel from rotating after parking the car with the wheels turned all the way to the left or right. Like bicycle "Kryptonite" locks, a thief would then have to freeze the lock's key cylinder with a sprayable/injectable freezing agent (freon refrigerant?) and then hammer/sledge the lock apart while frozen to remove it.

The Club is easily defeated by hacksawing through the steering wheel. It's better than no deterrent and I use one myself for my 964 when it's parked in public but realize its limitations.

Most "anti-personnel" measures are mostly useless if the thief is bent on getting your car, with a tow truck and some determination. Safest thing is to avoid parking it in public or on the street overnight.

I had my car broken into several times in Milan, Italy and wanted to buy that. A while back. It was banned from the market because it was considered "inhumane". I wanted ears to bleed! Do you know what this alarm is called and where to buy it? I'd love to have it!

Next question from all of us that are worried about the same thing.......

1. Should we have GPS?
2. Lock bar?
3. Lojack?

What is the best security?

I just don't want to go through the same issues that gngroup went through to try to recover his car.

Hidden kill switch.
Lock bar.
Noise maker alarm.

The idea is to dissuade the thief. Noisy. Lock bar. Car won't start. Time to move on to the next one (unless they have a flat-bed and are dead set on getting the car).
