Jac, Thanks for answering.
Yes, Installation is dry. The best results happen when you clean the shift rod and then buff clean with a scotch brite to remove any high spots or build up. A VERY light coating of silicone paste grease can be used but is not necessary. These are designed as dry, self-lubricating design. For those reading. Please send me a PM through Pelican and we can go from there. I have noticed that sometimes the email direct from Pelican gets blocked in spam filters. I try to catch them but don't always before they expire. Also, I have noticed on many occasions that members have old email addresses listed in their Pelican accounts so when I do reply they can bounce. Make sure you check and update your account setups.

It looks like a very nice product, but I'm not sure you're going to see any improvement over fresh factory bushings. I just did mine and there is no no play whatever. I was actually surprised. I knew it would be better but I didn't expect it to be quite so solid.

I don't think the longer length will result in noticeably less sideways movement, but I guess it's possible there could be some kind of improvement. I can tell you that with fresh factory bushings, I've got zero play. The factory bushings do the job very well.

Luca, sorry you don't appreciate the benefits. You are welcome to use the factory bushings as needed.
Teejay, Jac is correct that the bushing will not change the shifting feel. However, because of the reduction in play this will unveil a shift coupler that is not perfectly aligned. I am not sure what your exact setup is. I have had excellent results using brass bushings in the stock shift coupler. Another option are the 914 bushings that do not have the ovalized center hole. you mention about the lever not wanting to fully "click" into gear. Is this only in the front plane (1,3,5 on a 915) or the rear plane (2,4,R)? If so, this is usually a sign that the shifter reaches its travel limit before the slider is fully meshed inside the transmission.

I’ve always found the original bushing a pain in the ass to install. Soak in hot water to get it pliable. Deform the hell out of it to get it in the holder. If nothing else, it’s an easy install and my experience has been positive in terms of shifter improvement over a NEWLY installed OEM bushing.
Luca, if you look back at the posts since you first posted, you’ll see that Jamie (the person selling these) has not answered your questions defensively. It’s the user base responding. You also need to figure out who is selling these since you got that wrong also.

Ease of installation is definitely something to consider. I was able to get it seated without too much trouble, but it does take some patience. You're right that I lost track of who was upset or why, but there was really no cause for anyone at all to be defensive at easy questions about how a product should perform at the 10x the cost of the factory part.
Subjective "shifting feel," may be improved for some (and not others), but I was interested with all sincerity in how the improvement would be achieved objectively. Length, diameter, reliability, and rigidity were considered. And we got some valuable feedback from TeeJay and others on point. You've now suggested ease of installation. Prospective buyers would appreciate it. Why should that offend anyone? Anyway, questions raised about materials and design, and the relevant measurements and feedback have since been erased by the moderator. Draw your own conclusions. I will "move on" since my agnosticism isn't appreciated by the amen choir, but after all this was posted to a public "technical forum." Wanted to better understand the role of the bushing and to what extent something like this would "improve" things at 10x the cost of the well-performing factory part. I may not be one of the cool kids, but still didn't expect anyone to react so childishly. Why not remove the thread critical of the Momo Prototypo or delete scrutiny of any part out there? It kind of misses the mark. |

I should reiterate that I don’t think this is the fault of your bushing. I’ve had transaxle issues since the day I bought the car. One of them was excessive side-to-side play at the shift lever while in gear. Your bushing resolved this. I’m just wondering if I reassembled it wrong, and was hopeful that someone would go, “Oh! Your /insert item/ was misadjusted.”
