Brian,
Looking good. I know you got the Fuchs, but the cookies are cool! For the catch can, I did an aftermarket single in off the oil tank. I used the stock midyear CIS oil return hose that went over to the air box. It's roughly a 1inch diameter hose. The early RS / RSR catch can stuff is always appropriate too.

Update 12/8/24:
Last weekend I brought the 911 home. A friend helped me tow it back from South Carolina. I am stunned by the quality of paintwork on the car. I have had to do some work to my daughter's Mini, so I haven't started work on the 911 yet but planning to straighten up the garage and get started this week! This seems like a good option. Thanks!

Somehow, I missed the return of the freshly painted coupe to the home garage. It looks so good. That has to be one of the best colors for middies. Hope to see it in the wild someday.

Update: December 18, 2024:
Since I brought the car home, I have been attempting to do something to the car every day, even if it is something small. So far, I have removed the rear deck panel, removed the sunroof panel to reseal it and replace the cables, removed the cracked dashpad and mostly installed a new dashpad (struggling slightly with fitment), removed most of the aftermarket audio equipment and wiring, installed the relays for the H4 headlights, borescoped the pistons & cylinders and removed the carbs to start rebuilding them and inspect the valve guides. I've been posting updates to my Instagram stories every day if you would like to check me out there too: https://www.instagram.com/brianmoyer_/ From everything I've seen on the engine so far, it looks like a 73 RS clone that was put together by someone who really knew what they were doing: Euro RS pistons Pretty sure the cylinders are nikkies (need a longer magnet) 1973.5 911T heads 36mm intake ports Here is a big dump of photos from the last week. I'm sure we will bump into each other once it's back on the road!

Brian, your thread here is awesome. I, too, am a constant lurker but never post, and coincidentally logged on here to start my '77s ice green build thread, and of course yours was right at the top so I took a peek - looks like you and I are on the same track, cheers to your impressive progress from the Boston area!

Update: March 17, 2025:
Overdue for a post on this thread. Here are some updates from the last few months. I have torn down the new to me Weber 3C IDAs, picked up a tool kit and a jack, picked up a Harbor Freight hydraulic table which has allowed me to finally get the engine and transmission off my cherry picker. I now have the 914-6 engine on the engine stand and being torn down to a long block (will be for sale soon). My wife and I and some friends caravaned down to Amelia Island last weekend for Werks Reunion, RADwood and the Amelia Concours show. Although I was initially disappointed that my car wasn't ready to go it was super inspiring to see so many meticulous G body cars. I am more motivated than ever to continue on this project. On the way home, I found some Recaros from a 1991 VW Jetta GLI on Facebook and picked them up in South Carolina. They are essentially LSBs in great condition. I was very excited to find them. Hopefully work and family commitments will slow down slightly so I can get this car on the road in the next couple months!

Update: April 27, 2025:
Lots of moving pieces the last month. Got tires on the refinished fuchs and installed them on the car. The 911 is off to a local interior shop to have the interior done. This freed up space in the garage, so I finished stripping the 914-6 engine and bolted it to a skid. Got the 2.7 on the engine stand and replaced all the oil temp and pressure senders and spark plugs and bolted on the exhaust. Starting to make some real headway. Here are some updated photos along with a sneak peek of the interior choices: ![]() ![]()

This is coming together nicely. Like the Blackwatch plaid.
What interior shop did you use, if you can share?

Update 5/4/25:
I popped over to drop off some interior parts and remove my gauges. He's making some awesome progress on the interior. I also ordered all the jets for the carbs so hoping to rebuild them this or next week. Been difficult to make progress on the engine with a junior and senior in high school (track, college plans, prom, etc). Hoping to have the engine and trans assembled and ready to go back in around the end of the month when I get the car back. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Also, I snapped a quick photo of the car under the artificial light, and man I love this color.

Update 6/12/25:
Ernest is almost finished with the interior and I am planning to get the car back next week. Here are some teasers of the interior. This weekend I will be straightening up the garage and assembling the quick jack to get ready to be able to put the engine and transmission back in. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Brian,
Looking good! Kill all that red on the engine. Put a 2.7 shroud on imho. What an awesome project!

FWIW, I have a green 2.7 shroud that’s clean and not broken if you’re interested. It’ll match the plaid

Update 6/21/25:
This week I got my gauges back from John Bell and I was floored by the outcome. In all, he cleaned and tested them all, replaced capacitors, new glass and replaced or polished the acrylic lenses, refreshed the tach redline, repainted the bezels and needles, replaced the odometer gear and reset the odometer. I couldn't be happier. Getting ready to pop these back in as soon as I get the car home. Some before and after pics:
