I have a similar PPS dated from 2020, no engine/trans number. I believe the PCTC is a in-dealer inspection that’s big $$$.

From Porsche website:
What is the difference between the Porsche Classic Technical Certificate and the Porsche Production Specification?
The Porsche Classic Technical Certificate and the Porsche Production Specification are both certificates which can be ordered for your classic Porsche. The Porsche Production Specification replaces the previous Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and can be ordered by faxing or mailing in the order form. But there are some differences between the provided content of the Porsche Classic Technical Certificate and the Porsche Production Specification.

Update 9/10/23:

Spent almost all day Saturday working on the car. Have to say Wayne's book has been very helpful so far. I adjusted the valves and had to improvise with a feeler gauge because nobody had the special tool in stock. Also changed oil, spark plugs, cap & rotor, set timing, and started syncing the carbs. Was happy to find no broken head studs. Now the car runs like a sewing machine at idle. Just off idle it stumbles like maybe the accelerator pumps need adjusted or the diaphragms replaced but decided to leave that for another day. I also replaced the whale tail decklid with a regular 911S decklid. Took it for a quick rip through the neighborhood. A handful of 12 year old boys saw me and started yelling "it's a Porsche" and chasing me down the street recording with their phones. All around a great weekend and good vibes driving it.

Update 4/6/24:

I was struggling to find someone local to take on painting the 911. Based on a recommendation from someone in the VW/Porsche community near here, I found someone to paint it. They mentioned out of the blue in March that they could take it on. So, a couple weekends ago I took it for one last drive for a while. Then I cut out the glass and pulled the engine and transmission to get it ready for paint. Both jobs were fairly straightforward, but dropping the engine and transmission without a lift and by myself was not ideal. I got it out, but it really should have been a 2-person job.

Does anyone know if someone makes a complete high-quality exterior seal kit for mid year cars?

I'm planning to have the wheel wells and floor undercoating re-done also. The options are black and tinting to close to body color. Any recommendations? I plan to drive it so I was thinking black even though it's not the factory beige look. Thanks.

Back in action, I see! Glad you found a paint shop willing and eager - this will be epic. How far from home will it have to go? And please share any comments from your painter. Would love to know what he thinks about the project. Going back with ice green metallic or something else?
...I don’t know of any complete seal kit, but other more knowledgeable folks will weigh in perhaps. Would love to see this when you’re putting it back together. Perhaps lend a hand with engine install if needed. Patrick

Nice progress. If you’re thinking about doing anything about improving or changing the cracked dash, do it now while the windshield is already out, since that’s required to remove the dash. I decided to finally take care of some minor windshield channel bubbling a few years ago and replace the pitted windshield at the same time; I never minded my cracked dash but had a recovered one put in while this was done since it was relatively easy to do with the windshield out.

Dropping the engine and transmission is why I bought this.

The scissor lift and the lift table next to my son. I also have the son for an extra pair of hands.

There isn't a specific middie seal kit. Porsche seals are the recommended. Please go back to Ice Green Metallic. It's the best color imho.

I would get rid of the red on the fan and the shroud (unless it's a 3.0 I didn't see) but especially the fan. That color on fans has a bad history in the Porsche community.

Don't paint the undercoat black. It looks all wrong on a middie. It should be the white color. Looking forward to updates!

Use a light color on the undercoating. It will be a lot easier to see leaks and where they are coming from.

About 100 miles away in SC, south of Greenville. Yes, going back to Ice Green Metallic.

Definitely going to replace or re-skin the dash pad while it is out.

I need one of these in my life. Unfortunately, I don't think my teenage daughters would want to help me install the engine but I will ask though.

This engine will not be going back in. I have something else lined up that I will elaborate on very soon. Leaning toward body color on the undercoating, but still deciding.

Anyone have any experience with the exterior seal kit (SMC.000.897) from Sierra Madre Collection? The forum sponsor apparently doesn't allow URL links to their site.

No experience with that Kit, but it may include some seals you don't need, but maybe not. It uses "genuine, oem, and aftermarket" which leaves you wondering which is which? IMHO you need Porsche window seals, the others make difficult installs even worse. Plus you may pay for seals you don't need.

I would personally find the best price on Genuine Porsche front, rear and quarter seals. Everything else can be aftermarket as the seal fit in other spots (like door seals for instance) is less fiddly and there are some decent aftermarket seals out there.

Update 6/3/24:

Sorry for not posting the last two months. Got several big updates. I picked up a 2001 Audi TT 225hp quattro 6 speed for my wife. I flew down to Jacksonville, bought it from the original owner and drove it back to Charlotte and spent a ton of time working on it before taking it to Alpine Volks Fair in Helen, GA in May.

As for the 911, I was really on the fence about which direction to go with the engine. I was looking at 3.0 and 3.2 engines from later cars, a stock 2.7 and some other options. After doing a ton of research and searching, I decided I wanted to do a hot-rodded mid-year 2.7 engine, so I ended up buying this one on BringaTrailer. No Reserve: Porsche 911 Type 911/93 2.7L Engine It will have to wait to get installed until the car gets back from paint, but that will give me time to freshen up the carbs and order a bunch of parts.

Also, I towed the 911 to the shop to have the paint done. I have already started receiving progress pics but I will start to share those in a future post.

Good point. I already picked up H4s and relays, but I was thinking about leaving the chrome rings to match the bright trim.

Update 6/24/24:

The shop is making great progress on the 911. Whoever painted it blue apparently did a horrible job. There are even spots on the car where the blue topcoat was applied directly to bare metal with no primer. Luckily, the car is straighter and more rust-free than I thought. Must be because it sat in a barn in Lexington for 10+ years, plus the galanized steel. The shop is being really thorough, but it is still going faster than I expected. Hopefully I will be getting it back near the end of July or early August.
