Mine would be 2380 empty - I'm essentially carrying an extra passenger ;-)

Dick Elverude is awesome..he built and flipped my 930 4 speed box from my track car..700hp with 650 lb ft. and it held up under brutal race conditions for 3 years with minor freshning . Dick has my 962 motor out of my 935 right now..awesome guy and great work so no wonder your getting good numbers... the car looks great, but then again I am partial to turbo charged cars

Craig --
On that wheel pic a couple pages back, there's what looks like a nipple for air then there's what looks like a second nipple on the wheel with an orange cap. I was just curious what is the second nipple for? T.

It's a Longacre "tirerelief" air bleeder. You set the air pressure in the tire at your hot pressure objective before leaving the paddock, and it never gains any pressure with heat buildup. Nifty little NASCAR developed and proven product. It ensures consistent handling from track out to return to paddock, and doubles the tire life.

dwightp ...your right , I missed Steve's post....After easily winning many races with my GT1R club car due to others turning up the wick to out qualify me only to grenade thier motors , it is good to know there is more than a few engine builders out there like Dick and Steve that know what they are doing.

Very cool car. We need more dark side members.
If I am understanding correctly, the person who started this thread simply purchased this car in its present state from someone else. "My 930" and "present the beast" imply creation. The true creator deserves the big hand shake.

Crotchety -
It doesn't imply creation at all. I merely present the beast. The creators are the ones who made this work. I've designed and partially built my 3.6 beast. The new beast has many similar components and is ready to roll.....unlike my previous 5 year project. A toast to Blaylock & Rothsport -

It's true that this car is one of a kind.
I have had the distinct pleasure of owning, developing, and driving the car over the last five years. The evolution from ordinary production 930 with some schmancy go fast parts, to a well sorted, very reliable, and extremely quick track car that can still be street driven, has been a long road, with input from a few valued sources, along with a lot of sweat and challenges on my own part. It has taken me fully five years to get to where I feel I can drive it to it's potential, and at that pace it is extremely gratifying to smoke all sorts of contemporary and supposedly superior factory hardware. This takes a truly sorted package, something that doesn't happen by accident. I owe a large debt of gratitude to Steve Weiner, for his bottomless pit of patience as he spent countless hours on the telephone with me sharing concepts and ideas, the class and consistency of his character that is second to none, and quite simply the generosity of his nature. The final iteration is a product of Steve's collaboration, Jeff Gamroth's shop Rothsport, and not insignificantly, good parts suppliers like Chuck Moreland, whose suspension bushings and other well thought out parts have truly been a revelation to older torsion bar based cars. I learned a lot over the time I had the turbo, and had a lot of fun. Now it's Craig's time to start his own personal love affair with a car that truly has a unique character, to make it his own, raise his personal bar, and hopefully learn a few things along the way. His excitement is obvious, and it takes me on a trip down memory lane. I can't wait to see where he takes the car from here. Good luck Craig. |

enjoy the car and have fun but if you are not used to a truly fast car take your time .. it takes a lot of skill and seat time to get the last 5% out of one of those cars..often I see what happened to my old car after I reluctantly sold it to a friend .....this car was fully sorted , weighed 2,050 and had numbers well over 600 for both torque and HP at only 1.1 bar of boost
When I had it ... ![]() What he did to it .... ![]()

When I first purchased my SC in 1999, it took a good 2 years of track driving to reach the limits of the car - at a point where I felt I knew it really & entirely well.
Now I have the 3.6 iteration, only have owned it in it's current form for about 9 months, and have yet to come anywhere close to how good the car is. In a way, its a shame. Then something else became available, a car I've known for a few years. The 930. I like personal challenges and learning things that are in another league. This 930 certainly qualifies as that. I lived with this car for about 2 days and determined that it is exactly what I want: Damn quick Extraordinarily well sorted A cage Little 'flash'; low key but brutal Zero 'lag'. Much like an extremely - & impossibly - high powered 3.6. Well planted & wide of stance Has many of the parts that I installed on the 3.6 - and then some 3 oil coolers A HP/TQ curve that is unbelievable Ownership that was at the ultimate enthusiast/fanatical level I am ready.

Craig--will this be a strictly DE car or will you race in some organized clubs ie PCA or SCCA?

DE & other misc track days, but talking with Randy has indicated some racing possibilities.
You guys think this car is special? Ought to see what Randy is replacing it with. Diasio 962R.

Craig
don't start.. There will always be something faster, that handles better, that turns faster lap times.... even than the Diasio 962. A Caterham will spank a GT3RSR all day long on any short track... |
