Is it just me?

I find it difficult to obtain a comfortable driving position in the leather sport seat in my 85 and am wondering if others experience this as well. I like to have my arms extended with my elbows slightly bent but with that I find that the clutch pedal is a stretch to depress fully. I'm 5'11" so I'm a tad above average and I'm aggrivated that I can't feel perfect in my ride. Thinking about taping blocks to the pedals but that would look like crap!
Anyone else got this?

I am 6'4" and when I had seats in my car I remember feeling comfortable. Maybe a new steering wheel with a thin adapter plate would move the wheel forward and provide a better driving position. Check out our host and see if there are different width adapters for the aftermarket wheels.

I'm 6', and this is what I usually default to in a 911:

-Seat heights all the way to the bottom (if electric). If anything, a slight bump up in the front height.
-Seat set as far forward as necessary for proper clutch pedal comfort (and engaged clutch leg angle).
-Seat back adjusted somewhat upright for proper back support, gear lever position, and distance to wheel.
-Aftermarket Sparco steering wheel with extended hub.

If steering wheel position is your main issue, it can be usually be dealt with using different hubs or spacers (or lack thereof).

FWIW, I think the 1985+ sport-seat 911 is one of the most comfortable and supportive (factory) driving position set-ups there is. You should sit in a new BMW if you want real discomfort!

You may have an extended hub wheel. There are a few threads here that describe the difference and will help you figure out if you do.

That being said, for best control you want the wheel high and close to you, with a 90 degree bend in your elbows. That's why a good number of tall people put additional spacers behind the wheel.

I just checked and my options list indicates that an extended wheel hub was ordered with the car. I guess driving position is a personal variable but I just like my arms to have a good extension with about a 30 degree bend at the elbows. It feels cramped with the wheel so close to have a 90 degree bend. I've tried every seat position combination and nothing feels perfect to me. I have not had this with my other vehicles, BMW 325is, Nissan 280ZX, Triumph TR-6 and 2 dozen others I'll have to replace the hub to suit my liking I guess.
Thanks for all of your input.

I bet you could sell that extended hub in minutes on the board. You'll have people beating down your door to get it.

What Eric said. I am 5'8 and have never felt a more perfect fitting seat than in my '85. I like to drive Vic Elford stile though..

I probably wouldn't sell the hub either way to keep all the original options with the car. Maybe I have gumby arms or something!
