Sounds like a story there.
Maybe you can tell us more at the track. Lawn chair the awning and trailer AC amight be good options too. |
my job is going to hate me
Since I am in the act of burning my PTO to mess with my car here and there, now it appears another day will be lost to racing. I have training Oct 11th too... they are gonna be ticked if I don't show up but just....too...hard...to...resist...ride...in...coo l....car.....
:D Gonna have to sneak out to the big track apparently and battle some motion sickness in the passenger seat with you and Jack. Oh yeah, my vote is for white. Your car looks great white (I think most cars do) and is perfect for the track as it doesn't show chips so much (as the chip is just down to the white fiberglass ;) ) I think with the rear side window lips is all blacked out and so forth it will look fantastic. Lastly, wow, that Vegas track looks awesome! I never realized how great that track "must be". |
Tim, Good luck with the training.
But if you can make to Willow we can discuss colors from T5 to T1.:D But if you do get urpyhttp://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/draai.gif show some common courtesy and wear a full face helmet, visor down.;) Just bring your own helmet and a tooth brush.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/tanden.gif You'll be set for a second session. Yeah I've spent a bunch of Vacation days on my car, not as fun as a track day but better than the best day at work.:) If you miss this one I am planning to do the November OTR too. Keep up the good work on the 914+8. |
Per sure a have a few stories .... which kind of brew do you like??
|
Anything but dark beer, MGD is fine.
It's gonna be mid 90's so something cold and not to heavy will do it. I'll bring my cigar box and we'll bench race.:) |
Sound like my kind of racing .. I have a few Cohibas Lanceros from my last trip overseas (opps. did I said that!!)
|
OK, some pictures from today.
Mike, the business end: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1159674364.jpg and http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1159674386.jpg Hard at work: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1159674420.jpg It was a pleasure meeting you and the rest of the San Diego crew. Your car looks much better in person than on the pictures... I really like the air jacks!!! I will try to make it back tomorrow, this time with the family. |
Hi Jordi,
Very nice to meet you too. Sorry too early for beers and too busy to kick back. But enjoyed hearing your stories about rally racing Quatros in Europe in the mid 80s, very cool. Sunday was a good day, ended up with best time in my class. The dark green early widebody (Jae Lee) got me by 3 tenths for TTOD. Fun weekend and a great track for time trails. Nice layout, good traction and easy on tires. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160009625.jpg |
My spin exiting turn 1 at Spring Mountain(style points, complete 360, no traffic, stayed on track and no passenger).
Fyi this happened in session #10. I was simulating timed laps on sticker slicks and this was to be the first turn of the first timed lap. Luckily no flat spots. Fun weekend I carried 8 different passengers over the two day weekend, fun for all.:) We are going back to Big Willow Oct 11th. Click here to see the Pelican thread on this track day. It is a weekday so if you can get away from work come join the fun. The spin.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160009963.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160010008.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160009981.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160010080.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160010236.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160010273.jpg |
Happy New Year! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...artysmiley.gif
Got the car painted and I'm now just starting to prep it for the next event. Gunning for the 1st weekend in Feb. with the San Diego PCA TT at Big Willow. Here is the paint concept and a couple photos of the new sticky gooey green. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167532723.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167532740.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167532754.jpg |
Looking Good!!! That color combo REALLY pops. Hector at Victory Race Paint is getting a workout, I gave him a fifth of good agave and told him I want mine as sharp as yours. Seemed to work;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167536900.jpg

Ted,
After looking at your recent updates with it on the track, I kind of chuckled to myself. After all the changes in all the iterations your poor little 911 has been through, did the same windshield actually make it? It ( the decal) is the only common theme that runs through your mild, back date radical and finally modern race car. I've loved your write ups and the transformations....I'd gladly have parked any of them in my garage. Personal preference was the long hood, but that is one seriously fine track car that surely feels better at the end of the straights now. |
very beautiful work, i've never seen in France, you're are crazy
|

Well need to get a side by side shot (my best chance of that would be a static ;) display), I think your wilder colors will overpower mine.:D Happy New Year! |
Quote:
I tell you I was looking forward to a new windshield as much as anything! That said I might be tempting fate, watch it'll get cracked bad first time out.:) New windshield or a new battery just helps make a used car feel new again.:D Yeah the long hood was fun. Couple months ago I almost bought a just restored white RS clone again. I have a black turbo look daily driver and I decided 2 Porsches is plenty. As for comparing the performance of the RS clone to the current car. The new car is much more confidence inspireing in the fast and slow turns. Less chassis twist and more suspension compliance as all suspension points are solid hiem joints. It ran 3 seconds a lap quicker at Big Willow's high speed track where the significant drag from the widebody and big tires is difficult to overcome. But it has more of an advantage on medium speed twisty tracks. Recently at Spring Mountain it ran 8 seconds a lap quicker than longhood clones comparable to my old Brumos look car. Jump in and join me for a lap sometime. When I run it on the street I'll run softer shocks by lowering the N2O presure. It still is a street car, really.:) |

I've known some crazy Frenchmen with wild rides too.SmileWavy |

Screw the static shot...my thought would be chasing each other over the Corkscrew @ LS... |

More importantly they were painting your stuff again today... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167606252.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167606267.jpg Thats gonna pop, solid creamy yellow and Purple with pearl. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167606281.jpg Nice before shot of your hot rod. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167606420.jpg Got my bumper back today. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167606359.jpg Go Chargers. |
TED!
Your going to make me take my done car and follow in your lead! Car looks great:) Cant wait to see it at the track. Then again I just got engaged and the pre wife might get upset about it. Happy New Year from N.Y. |

Lookin' good Mike. Can't wait to see it assembled.

Thanks! Nobody could talk me out of it!:D NO, im actually very happy! She is very supportive on anything I do. Ive been chasing skirts for a long time. Besides, she loves the Porsche and going fast. |

Thanks TED! Its just that im bored. Now that its done I ask myself now what:rolleyes: Maybe ill RSR it. Then again i will be getting married and a bigger house might be nice! |
Quote:
My advise find a tub and start a no rush (screaming fast) RSR project while enjoying your RS. A wider RSR might need a bigger garage too. :D Speaking of green and garages, after a couple weeks off I actually spent a couple hours in the garage massaging my green bits. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170293128.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170293155.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1170293234.jpg |
its so nice.
|
Mike, car is looking great. On another note, I am trying to get down there on the company to see you and Jae etc, but need a valid reason. Any chance you guys are doing RNAV Sids down there now? :)
Cheers |
Re: 911 re-body, from RSR+ to the EVO2.

But seriously, best of luck on the project! And keep us updated! |
Ted / Mike - Looking great! Lots of choices this weekend - Vegas with POC, Willow Springs with PCA or home. You gonna come out and play?
I'm getting ready for Willow Springs Pete |
Guys and gal thanks for the nice comments.
Other than Pelicans only about 5 people have seen it.:) Hey Jeff, come on down I'll hook you up. Pete good luck racing this weekend, I predict you'll be in the top ten. Super Bowl for me this weekend.:) |
Looking SWEET!
Congrats again! I love the metal work John did with your oil cooling. Very nice job! Not to mention everything else, of course. DW |

Your right. I bet with some practice on the welder, I could build a nice car. I only have time to drive my car about 3 or 4 time a month as it is. BTW, the car looks great! Cant wait to see it in person! |
Almost done...
I had a great experience getting it painted at Victory Race Paints in San Diego. (619) 281-6024. Here is a happy photo of shop owner/PCA member Mark Tyler with Hector one of his painters. It's ready except for the faux door handles and some minor tweaks. I plan to drive it on the street asap (requires quick change to 2nd set of front fenders w/headlights and smaller/lower wing element). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172188543.jpg Here it is track prepped, sitting on 18s with Toyo RA-1 DOT legal tires. I need to get hot and install the new Mirage windshield banner.;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172188602.jpg 1st track day will be with the R Gruppe at Streets of Willow, followed quickly by the POC California Speedway infield event. Riders welcomed.:D |
That looks great. Kind of looks like it's waiting for some big numbers.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172191810.jpg 'Green Lightning' needs to come to Willow Springs. |
|
Mike the car looks great - Can't wait to see it in action.
I like Green Lightning or how about the Green Flash, Green Hornet (to track down the killer bee) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172207491.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172207729.jpg or a shamrock motif or even a lucky leprechaun http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172207800.jpg After all, they are always after me lucky charms |
After thought.......
I would have removed the drip rails and went smooth, flush the back-glass for less drag .............like I said just an after thougth but it looks terrific and I bet goes even better. Clearly worth the effort. Definitely 100 smiles an hour plus. Great job!! Never mind I noticed the back glass mod after I posted. Great job, Great job.............. |
1,2,3
|
Thanks guys.
Jack see ya at Willow, can you make the new R/G SOW date in April? Thanks Joseph. ;) Hey Petey Millikin, like the Irish theme but my door's too small to fit my proper Irish name, Michael Randal Reardon McGeogahn. :D Like the Hornet, makes the bee look like a house/horse fly.;) His mean bee theme (holding a cigar and machine gun) was actually my concept.... Need to make this Hornet  MAD.... the Mad Hornet.... It was easy as 1,2,3 or in today's dollars 10k, 20k, 30k :) I'm considering the new 997 fender kit next, not. ;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172245804.jpg |
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172188602.jpg
Mike, your car looks amazing - wow, it looked nice on the lift but I have to admit now I wasn't too sure about the colors. On the ground with the right stance, the wheels tucked up and the isometric viewpoint, just smokin'!!!! I went to the Pueblo, CO racetrack yesterday, and it is no Willow Springs :( Takes me back to the 80s and that Cinderella song "Don't know whatcha got 'til its gone"... I knew I would miss that track, but for everyone out there with access to that track - hands down the "bestest track ever dood". All the corners but maybe one were flat at the Pueblo track, so not much way to carry speed through them at all. I LOVE the feel of T8-T9 at 125mph+ - you guys know that feel, the feel that the car is just hammering and jouncing and there is no way it is going to stay on, but it just keeps sticking and the Gs are pulling your organs to the left side... ugh, you guys suck now, we can't be friends anymore :p ;) :D When this car is shaken, feeling solid and so forth, I am going to have to trailer it out there for at least an annual run at WS. 'Course will suck to get out there and have what happened yesterday - 5 or 6 laps and then the ignition box died  266 miles round trip sucks for that, but imagine 2200 miles! |
