Sounds like a story there.

Lawn chair the awning and trailer AC amight be good options too.

byndbad914 09-28-2006 01:58 PM

my job is going to hate me

Since I am in the act of burning my PTO to mess with my car here and there, now it appears another day will be lost to racing. I have training Oct 11th too... they are gonna be ticked if I don't show up but just....too...hard...to...resist...ride...in...coo l....car.....
:D

Gonna have to sneak out to the big track apparently and battle some motion sickness in the passenger seat with you and Jack.

Oh yeah, my vote is for white. Your car looks great white (I think most cars do) and is perfect for the track as it doesn't show chips so much (as the chip is just down to the white fiberglass ;) ) I think with the rear side window lips is all blacked out and so forth it will look fantastic.

Lastly, wow, that Vegas track looks awesome! I never realized how great that track "must be".

ted 09-28-2006 03:10 PM

Tim, Good luck with the training.
But if you can make to Willow we can discuss colors from T5 to T1.:D
But if you do get urpyhttp://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/draai.gif show some common courtesy and wear a full face helmet, visor down.;)
Just bring your own helmet and a tooth brush.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/tanden.gif
You'll be set for a second session.

Yeah I've spent a bunch of Vacation days on my car, not as fun as a track day but better than the best day at work.:)
If you miss this one I am planning to do the November OTR too.
Keep up the good work on the 914+8.

jriera 09-28-2006 06:30 PM

Per sure a have a few stories .... which kind of brew do you like??

ted 09-28-2006 06:44 PM

Anything but dark beer, MGD is fine.
It's gonna be mid 90's so something cold and not to heavy will do it.
I'll bring my cigar box and we'll bench race.:)

jriera 09-28-2006 07:05 PM

Sound like my kind of racing .. I have a few Cohibas Lanceros from my last trip overseas (opps. did I said that!!)

jriera 09-30-2006 07:50 PM

It was a pleasure meeting you and the rest of the San Diego crew. Your car looks much better in person than on the pictures... I really like the air jacks!!!

I will try to make it back tomorrow, this time with the family.

ted 10-04-2006 04:55 PM

Hi Jordi,
Very nice to meet you too.
Sorry too early for beers and too busy to kick back.
But enjoyed hearing your stories about rally racing Quatros in Europe in the mid 80s, very cool.
Sunday was a good day, ended up with best time in my class.
The dark green early widebody (Jae Lee) got me by 3 tenths for TTOD.
Fun weekend and a great track for time trails.
Nice layout, good traction and easy on tires.

My spin exiting turn 1 at Spring Mountain(style points, complete 360, no traffic, stayed on track and no passenger).
Fyi this happened in session #10.
I was simulating timed laps on sticker slicks and this was to be the first turn of the first timed lap.
Luckily no flat spots.
Fun weekend I carried 8 different passengers over the two day weekend, fun for all.:)
We are going back to Big Willow Oct 11th.
Click here to see the Pelican thread on this track day.
It is a weekday so if you can get away from work come join the fun.
The spin....

Happy New Year! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...artysmiley.gif
Got the car painted and I'm now just starting to prep it for the next event.
Gunning for the 1st weekend in Feb. with the San Diego PCA TT at Big Willow.
Here is the paint concept and a couple photos of the new sticky gooey green.

Looking Good!!! That color combo REALLY pops. Hector at Victory Race Paint is getting a workout, I gave him a fifth of good agave and told him I want mine as sharp as yours. Seemed to work;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167536900.jpg

Ted,

After looking at your recent updates with it on the track, I kind of chuckled to myself. After all the changes in all the iterations your poor little 911 has been through, did the same windshield actually make it? It ( the decal) is the only common theme that runs through your mild, back date radical and finally modern race car.

I've loved your write ups and the transformations....I'd gladly have parked any of them in my garage. Personal preference was the long hood, but that is one seriously fine track car that surely feels better at the end of the straights now.

Hey JC when yours is together post some completed shots of your wild ride on here.
Well need to get a side by side shot (my best chance of that would be a static ;) display), I think your wilder colors will overpower mine.:D
Happy New Year!

True Luke, good eye the old Mirage windshield lasted a long time. It had 5 years of street/track time on it and was pitted badly and had a small crack too. The new windshield was a gift from Jae at Mirage, I'll place a Mirage banner on it soon. This time we used a smooth no metal trim style glue in gasket.

I tell you I was looking forward to a new windshield as much as anything! That said I might be tempting fate, watch it'll get cracked bad first time out.:) New windshield or a new battery just helps make a used car feel new again.:D

Yeah the long hood was fun. Couple months ago I almost bought a just restored white RS clone again. I have a black turbo look daily driver and I decided 2 Porsches is plenty.

As for comparing the performance of the RS clone to the current car.
The new car is much more confidence inspireing in the fast and slow turns. Less chassis twist and more suspension compliance as all suspension points are solid hiem joints.

It ran 3 seconds a lap quicker at Big Willow's high speed track where the significant drag from the widebody and big tires is difficult to overcome.
But it has more of an advantage on medium speed twisty tracks. Recently at Spring Mountain it ran 8 seconds a lap quicker than longhood clones comparable to my old Brumos look car.
Jump in and join me for a lap sometime.

When I run it on the street I'll run softer shocks by lowering the N2O presure. It still is a street car, really.:)

According to Mark... Hector wants to get a shot of both cars with AHEM...some of his lady friends...I'm down;)

Screw the static shot...my thought would be chasing each other over the Corkscrew @ LS...
