Mike, just in case I get down to SAN on one of my trips what are your initials when you are on the job. Great project!

Cool, let me know the dates. I just took the Procedures Specialist position so my schedule is a wee bit for flexible now!
Cheers |
It was Awesome Bill. It was really awesome to see how fast he was in what was a sort of tricked out 911 turbo carrera. I' am sure there was more to it than what he let on, but it was fast indeed.
Glad to see your evolution getting better, can't believe it has evolved to what what is is currently. I have been watching this tread for a long time. If you running out in Phoenix this winter, let me know. Would be nice to meet you. I'am in the current process of a 3.6 transplant into my 1982 SC. Might be ready in a few months or so, not in a hurry until the other house sells. Mike |

Just ask if Mike Golf is in the tower. I'll try to make you #1. ;) Best, Mike |

It can be a fun DE, sometimes with several Pelican 911s. When it gets a little closer lets verify time off, logistics and my car's status. We can discuss it more via pm. Sounds like fun. Best, Mike |

His skills with the old 911 swing axle suspension inspires many of us with similar set ups. Actually Bill's car has a reserved spot on the big rig hauler posted earlier. Older photo of Bill's 350hp+ 930. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1157993479.jpg I have not been to PIR yet. Bill has said it is a very nice track and facility with nice hotels minutes away. Either AZ or CA always up for a cold one and bench racing. Good luck with your conversion, I used Patrick for many of my parts. Best, Mike |

Wednesday November 15 with OTR I'm the chief driving instructor for both, and Mike has my permission to take passengers out -- so long as I get a ride at some point. ;) |
Cool, thanks, Jack. If I make it down it will be for the November event, but I will bring my helmet!
Cheers |
Yes, thank you Jack.
Spending a weekday with OTR sure beats working.:) |

Mike - I think you might have to bring ropes to form a line for ride-alongs SmileWavy |
I enjoy reading bits and pieces of your build Mike. Now its time for an important question.. When are you going to make it 3.8L and Twin Turbo? ;) :p

I expect the current 300hp street able 3.6 will do fine. If more hp was needed it would have be street able so a high CR 400hp 3.8 is not really what it needs. The turbo would be nice for a couple of reasons. Low boost keeps it street able. Big Hp with more boost. A new challenge learning to race or TT with a turbo. The bigger power would be tough on my 915. So if I were to do it today..maybe a factory water cooled twin turbo with a 5 speed G50. Those would be some expensive bits and pieces... The old 3.6 at 140mph should do it for me. :) |
My buddy John Simone has been busy.
He is making molds of my one off +4 wide front fenders. Here are a few pictures of yesterday and today's progress. The drivers side mold is 50% complete, should have it done tomorrow night, then a 48 hour cure. Fender Prepped and parting flanges in position, 8 Hrs to get to this point. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads8/z1158472324.jpg Wax and mold release applied, dry time 1 hour. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1158472367.jpg Gel Coat application last night at 8:00 PM, 12 Hour Dry time before mold lay-up. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1158472395.jpg First two layers of fiberglass, two more tomorrow, then reinforcement plywood supports will be added. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1158472421.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1158472429.jpg John plans to start on the passenger front fender Monday. Two weeks from today the car will be in Las Vegas at the PCA Spring Mountain TT. I really don't like to rush John but he seems to find the time and energy to always reach his goals. :) |
Car looks beautiful man, nice looking conversion!

Couple nice ones in San Diego. The mold process continues. John has been busy on the molds while keeping up with his real (day) job too. Drivers Side Mold with plywood back up structure to reinforce the mold so that it retains a prefect shape when removed from the fender http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads8/61158729870.jpg Mold will be removed Thursday evening, then trim and clean. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1158729877.jpg 8 days till we leave for the Vegas PCA event, passenger fender is in gel coat. It will be ready but no time to spare. Kinda looks like a Unique Whips left front mega sub woofer box. :D |
I am not sure what I like better...your car on the track or in the garage getting the magic work done. Awesome...keep us updated.
|
ted, see you at Spring Mountain on the 30th and/or the 1st. I will make sure to bring plenty of film and memory sticks to take pictures, car is looking awesome!!!!

If I post a garage photo next year it should be of me just waxing it with a cold beer.:) Thanks for the encouragement. Best, Mike |

Come by and say hi grab a chair under the awning. Did you enter the TT? If so you should see my car from the inside out. I've got a spare driving suit and helmet, hop in for a Saturday session. Sunday I'll be solo preparing for timed runs. Both days I'll be helping with the lunch time track tours. If possible take your car out or maybe mine for a half speed tour? See ya then, Mike Gagen aka ted on Pelican.;) PS I know a good party (VW group) in Henderson Saturday night, but I think it's a little too far a drive to go party from Pahrump. |
Mike, will bring the chair and a couple of cold ones (diet coke of course!!)
Don't race anymore, got a really bad experience many years ago and I chicken-out. Not that bad of a drive from Pahrump to Henderson ... the problem will be the way back after a party!! :) See you there. |
