Great looking Targa. What size are those wheels?

I have a set of those from a '69E Targa that I was about to list. PM me your contact info and I can send you pics.

That said, I have also built a hotrod targa to my own tastes and am getting ready to do the stereo system. Any chance you could post some details on your system or even do a thread on it? I have a very nice rear enclosure, but the door speakers look great and I think they would be a solution for mine. Also, do you have hidden components (amp, powered subwoofer)?

Rivals Singer? LOL

Its a nice looking car and may be well done. Its no where near the standards of a Singer. Shockingly enough its up for sale now. There are some cosmetic flaws around the car from use. Its nice but its not a $100k car or anywhere near the same league as a Singer.

LOL. I think it does come close...as much as any enthusiast-built car. This is a street car that was well done and likely used by the owner/enthusiast. I suspect that there are cosmetic flaws on a lot of well-used Singers...assuming that any are used and not just trophies for their owners (and garage queens). Clearly, with an unlimited budget, one can buy infinitesimally small increments in both cosmetic or performance that are largely unused (like 3.6 vs 3.2). This car would far exceed almost anyone's ability to drive it on the street...and looks are largely owner preference. Obviously, I am judging from the photos.

Of course it is not a $100K+ car, but I bet it sells for less than you could build a duplicate (and much less than any Singer). If I were in the market, I would happily bid on this and simply change the cosmetic things that I would do differently.

My own preference for a "hot rod Targa" would be one that looks (to the nonexpert) like it is bone stock from the outside...and at least period correct inside (with an exception of sound system...and even then, not gaudy). But, with any options or upgraded mechanicals possible. That is why I have optional factory sport seats and optional fatty steering wheel vice aftermarket. The 7" wheels (on a '74) or exhaust rumble might be a giveaway. No flares or even a duck. Essentially a sleeper. It is not like I am going to make it a stoplight racer to challenge Hemi Cudas anyways. If I wanted a Singer, I would drive one. Nice, but not my cup of tea. Other cars here are great, I love them all...but not what I want. We all have our preferences. That is why I drive Targas...even though so many here on PPOT have told me that they are homely. My preference. This is my hot rod (Old Yeller). My other 911, an '89 Targa, is bone stock (other than Steve Wong chip).

8x17 front with a 225/45 and a 9.5x17 rear with 255/40. Gives a good balance with no fit issues.

Forgot to put this up here after I installed the bumpers and the 3.6. I think she qualifies as a Hot Rod Targa

flint & trader, thanks for the comments. Like a lot of folks here, the build IS the journey for me. Once I think it’s done, I’ll enjoy driving it until the ‘next’ journey takes its place. It’s absolute folly from a financial perspective, but I enjoy the creative process. Yes, it’s probably not a 100k car BUT you couldn’t build it, this way, for that, then or today. The reserve is substantially lower than that and I don’t have to sell it. Time and the market will tell. Yes, Singers are on a whole nother level. I’ve seen lots of them and most don’t get rock chips. My goal wasn’t a wannabe, just a hooligan hotrod in a Targa body. I think I achieved that.

Here’s the current link to Pcarmarket with tons of pics

With all due respect, it is a very nice hot rod targa but its no where near the league of a Singer. Of course it would not cost anywhere near that to build either.

The thing with all of these hot rods is that..... If you pay someone to build one you'll never get your money out of it. So this car is nice but what the builder has into it has no bearing on the market value.

The new version looks great. Hope no one was hurt in the death of the original.
