Basic interior trim question

The headliner on my 1977 911S will soon be replaced by a local interior shop (has not done a 911 before). Glass will be removed by a different shop doing paint. My job will be to have all weather stripping, sunroof, and trim pieces off for the upholsterer. I am a fair mechanic but have little experience with interior projects. How are the "pop-out" quarter windows removed? How are the A-pillar and C-pillar trim pieces attached? I have searched threads here and on PCA web site. As always, many thanks.
Doug

Doug, Use caution, all will tell you with reasonable good reason that they are not responsible for glass that breaks, problem is that includes those that dont know what they are doing.
Have a manual?? give them the procedure if not drop me a note & I will email you a pdf. cut the front & rear out, razor or knife parallel and on surface of glass into seal, then down into seal along trim (90 degres to glass), this wil allow you to pull the part of the seal off that holds glass, then pusg / lift glass out, no pressure on glass with goofballs trying to push the glass our and maybe break it.
Rear 1/4's Hinged?? I have early coupes and a 71 targa so IF hinged, they unscrew, 2 hinges at forward edge then the swing latch at the rear, if not do as above.

I was having the 71 painted in Dec, called dealer for recomendation of glass shop, called made apt, told my buddy at body shop who was going to do it, he started laughing, told me a horror story of a 65 Mustang he put a lot of time in on for owner. So I call ask if these guys had ever removed the glasss from a 911, they think so, an early car no I dont think so, descrobed the seal, Oh Yea we push those out!! Canciled their call re-read the manual, went by at lunch and cut the seals done in 15 min and made my buddy happy when he ask me to take them with me so they did not risk breaking them.

Drop me a note if you want a pdf of manual pages.

Regards

Jerry,
I appreciate your quick response. I have host's book, "101 Projects..." if this is the manual to which you refer. If not, I would certainly like additional info. Are the trim pieces glued or are there screws under the seals, etc. Do you just pry the top inward to create clearance for the new headliner? Also, I will look for the attachment points at the front of the quarters. Thank you.

Jerry has given excellent advice about the windshields (front and rear). As to your last post, here are some things to watch for.

Are the trim pieces glued or are there screws under the seals? I assume you mean the vinyl trim along the pillars? They are glued and covered by the door seal and (in some locations) the windshield seal or quarter window trim.

Do you just pry the top inward to create clearance for the new headliner? No. The headliner must be installed before the windshield, rear windshield, door seals and quarter window trim are installed. Since the car is a sunroof model, you don't have to worry about the metal bows for the headliner, but there is a foam pad glued to the sunroof pan that you may need to replace/refurbish.

Hey Doug, Wayne has a very good book but I was refering to the factory manual, you can also go the the Porsche parts catalog (PET link below ) go to bottom og page put in your car and you will see selections for engine body ect, there are model specific drawings and parts listings this should help taking things apart.
I think most of the trim on the A & B pillars are glued BUT I have earlier cars, in general everything comes off before the headliner, and again headliner is done first.
