Thanks PJ - Drove the car quite a bit this weekend - Got the door mirror fixed - cleaned the backs and front wheel wells/wheels - Stock 911 offset 8's in the front. The Koni's are a little bouncy - but figured out how to adjust them last night - have yet to try em out again.

Tach has started working - car is starting to loosen up a little. Measure the car - and the height is all screwed up - it's about 3/4" difference between the rear passenger and rear driver's side - it looks like whoever installed the Elephant quick change bars - hit the top of the adjustment - and instead of reindexing the bar to the next spline said what the heck and left it at that.

That's a really nice replacement for your old cab. Congrats!

Are you sure those are 911 8x16 Fuchs up front? With those spacers I would think they're 7x16's.

I run 8x15 Fuchs up front on my '77 widebody 911 and don't use any spacers up front. You might want to try and remove the front spacers for better steering feel (less wheel scrub).

Enjoy your coupe!

Nice fat ass on that coupe, Congratulations! Looks like great fun. What size tires on the new 17's? I like getting them sorted just about as much as driving. Cant resist "Coupe's rule...." Good to see you staying in the blue family...

Jeremy, what/whose caliper adapters are you using?

Again, very nice find with this car!

Thx

I am using VCI adapters for the front on Steve Weiner machined brembos. I could have used Wilwood GT's with custom hats (that's what I had on my cabriolet) - would have been a little cheaper - but the units that Steve Weiner produces are a high quality item.

For the rear I'm going with 965 calipers that I just had the holes filled in and I will redrill (I've done that before). These will go over stock 930 rotors so I can keep my emergency brake... 23mm unboosted master cylinder.

Should be way overbraked for this car being that it's light and underpowered.

Yep.. sounds like what I'll end up with.. What needed to be machined on the fronts? I though it was adapters, 993 calipers, 930 rotors and you'te set?

C'mon Jeremy, how long is that pup gonna be "underpowered?"

Nothing needed machining on the front - I was referring to Steve's "machined" rotor hat combo

Ah ha. I knew i'd seen those rotor hats somewhere before.

If I recall correctly, these hats are for adapting 993TT rotors to our older 911s? Are your rotors 993TT, machined down to fit in the 993 caliper? The holes near the OD of the rotor look, well, noticeably closer to the OD than I would expect?

Big improvement on the shifter with the seine systems shifter. I'm not a fan of the hose clamp on shifter handle and the other gate handing off there - I'll have to have that welded up right. but a BIG improvement in feel. Not quite g-50 ish = but further away from U-haul 24 foot box truck for sure.

Well, I know you guys like pictures so here are a few.

Brakes I need to do the detail stripping then they will be ready for paint

Bottom of the car - yes the suspension pieces have been powdercoated

cleaned up purty good

Yes, I know this is a track car - but anybody that knows me knows I am pretty anal about stuff - cleaning/finishing - no hack jobs - that sort of thing - so this really isn't outside of the norm.

I'll start brakes as soon as I get all the required pieces...

Fun, fun, fun!

Might be worth reading Jack Olson's Black Beauty thread. He did some fun things like de-cambering the front struts and lengthening the A arms to reduce scrub radius and get the neg camber he needed. However this could effect your front wheel offsets. He also runs torsion bars front w coils rear to leave more room up front for tires and have access to higher spring rates in the rear and simplify ride height and corner balancing.

Don't forget to open up the center of those Weltmeister Cambermeister strut bar mounts before you hit the track. You don't want your strut shafts restrained like they currently are.

I'm jealous- it's cleaner than my own car that so many people give me crap about (being too clean).

So went to the swap meet yesterday and scored a few items - had a good tim. On the way back my tach started acting up - on the way by the airport - my car gave a little wiggle - I was not pushing it - just keeping up with shakinjoe.

So - came back and examined the tires - and guess what - they have a 02/1998 date stamp on them - They are a 100 tread wear rating = so they have to be hard as a rock by now (which is I am sure what I felt)

Anyway - so I declined going to the german invasion 2 hours south of here - and worked on getting some light scratches out of the paint - and removed my rockers - and found a old tb cover - looks original = and looks like Mexico Blue - so looks like my car was repainted - COMPLETELY - in a darker blue - maybe bahama - maybe Arrow - still cool either way

Took the rocker panels off too - they will definitely stay off and are already in the FS section...
