Hi all. I know this is a very old thread... Can anyone share a recent experience with Rennsport Porsche Works in Sealy, Texas? All the old comments are very positive, but after years I'd like to know if the shop still maintains the same level of quality work. I found another local shop in Houston called Einar's, they look pretty good too, but my first impression is that they work on newer cars ($$), while Rennsport may have more customers with cars similar to mine, a 1995 C2. All comments are welcome.

I haven't had experience with Rennsport for probably about 5 years, but as long as Warren is still there I'd be confident taking my car there. Mine was an 88 Carrera sold a few years ago. Einar's is also excellent and did work on my 88. Warren actually recommended Einar to me when I was looking for somewhere closer to home to avoid the drive to Sealy. Einar used to be in Clear Lake, but when he moved to his current location near Washington Avenue, it became a no brainer to me to take my car to him as I'm near the Montrose area. He's top notch.

Warren is still there. He ordered some gears and an LSD from me last week. He and Mike’s widow are still doing things the same way they always have. I’d take my own car there.

Depends where you are in Houston - I've used Michael Cawley at European Auto Tekniks several times, and find him to be detailed, honest, and does good work. He's off FM 1960 near 45 on Mintz lane.

Yes, Warren is still there, keeping the lights on and taking care of customers.
The quality and service is still there. I personally know a few local guys that had had engine out work and been happy. Einars is good as well but pricey.

Warren pulled my engine, rebuilt my 915 and did a lot of other stuff to my Targa right after I bought it, and he’s fantastic. Price was less than expected and he went above and beyond. It wasn’t fast, but I wasn’t in a hurry and wanted it done right. Well worth the hour drive for me.
I’ve used Einar several times for annual fluid flushes and was very happy as well. Einar is also close to me and very convenient. For anything major I’d bring my car to Rennsport, but only because of my prior experience and not because Einar isn’t a great shop. I have not used them for service yet, but I have friends with various vintage cars who have very good reviews of Driver Source. I know the management team and owner, who have all been there since it opened nearly 20 years ago, and they’re absolute quality people and diehard enthusiasts. I agree on your review of Driver's Source,
Good people for sure. Not sure what their prices are like though, they always have candy in the shop that's for sure.

Warren is there and I can personally attest to his capabilities for air cooled 911's. The shop is typically full and not uncommon to see some pretty special cars in there too. He has helped me out numerous times. He and MC are great people. I do not hesitate to call them when I'm in need of help.

Great experience at Rennsport at Sealy TX
Hey guys. I just picked up my car at Rennsport. I'm pleased with the work they did and with the overall experience. Tom and Warren are knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. They replaced the clutch, main seal, shift linkage and did an oil change. I dropped the car off on Thursday night and it was ready on Tuesday, so 3 days to complete the job isn't bad at all... Rennsport seems like a old school shop, where the mechanics don't just rely on the scanner, but you can tell they really know Porsches in and out... I'm glad I found them and from now on they will be my go-to place for things I cant do my self. Thanks to all for the recommendation!

Warren and Terry are both great and true mechanics. MC is an awesome lady but not sure about that Tom Guy… -kidding.
They are all great and do good honest work. As mentioned it is a great old school type of shop. -almost like stepping back in time when going there. Warren has a great depth of knowledge and one should not hesitate to take a car there. In fact, the dealer has sent work there when needed for whatever that’s worth.

Agree with all that was said, Warren, Tom and the rest of the team out there are top notch! Had a shifter bushing fail on a rally, and was able to limp it to them and they got me in and out in record time and back on my way! Would not hesitate to bring my 87 to them for anything I cant do on my own.

Have used both Rennsport (Sealy) and Einars (Houston) with great results from each. Both were attentive to the details, are enthusiasts, and genuinely want to do the right thing and help out fellow enthusiasts.
Rennsport is a bit of a museum and Warren seems glad to show you around the barns and containers full of cars and parts. Einars is more of a refined shop experience. You can't go wrong with either. |
