Yes.

I've used them on my old 964. I plan to take my targa to them. My friend with 2 993's takes both of them to Mike exclusively.

Mike is the best Porsche mechanic in Houston.

I've got limited experience, they did one PPI for me. They found a problem with the car and as a result, I didn't buy it.

What do you need done?

I would qualify this statement by adding that he may possibly not do the work himself. When I took a car for PPI, a mechanic that works for him did the work. I am not saying that the mechanic is not good, what I am saying is that the "best mechanic in Houston" may not be the one that works on your car. Maybe you need to ask and make clear who will if it's really critical work....if that matters to you.

If Mike doesn't do the work, then Warren does the work, under the direction of Mike. And Warren is an excellent mechanic too.

The only thing that gets done without Mike seeing it is maybe an oil change. And - I have my doubts.

If you want another reference - contact Joel Reiser with PCA. When he was racing, Joel used to detour through Texas in order to have Mike set up the car. Yep - he's that good.

If you don't believe me - ask Joel.

I had the PPI done on my 993 there.

I'd use them again.

I was on the pit crew with Reiser-Callas ALMS team. Mike is one of the BEST Porsche mechanics anywhere!

You guys are right, it is a top notch shop, probably the best in the Houston area. So again, you're right, it doesn't matter what work you are having done, whether it's a PPI or engine overhaul, this is the shop that I would take my work to.

The only thing I was saying is that Mike may not do the work. If he is there, then he will be watching to make sure things get done right.

When I went by, Mike had been in the hospital for a few days and had just gotten out. He was there for about half of my PPI and had to go home to continue recovering his health. However, Mike seems like a fairly healthy guy, so I doubt that he spends or will spend much time in the hospital.

Bottom line: Rennsport is highly recommended.

How are his prices? Will you pay a premium for his experience?

I don't understand why the shop owner has to turn wrenches for the shop to be great. I never saw Arnold or Dieter at Andial ever work under a car. Arnold hardly ever left the shop floor and Deiter was in the office a lot. But they stayed relatively clean all day.

I can't go back as far as when Alwin was part of the business.

Mike has been in the business since the late 50's early 60's. He has a great reputation for quality. Warren is very skilled as well. The best shop in Houston IMHO.
