There is no end in sight !!!

Cheers !

You're not joking about the R compounds. The Toyo R888 on the 930 are harsh to the wallet.

The engine build I am currently doing, I stopped tallying the money after $7000. I have no idea where I am now.

It's a slippery slope, get your wife on board soon. It will make you both happier in the long run.

Don't forget a microfiber towel to wipe the permanent grin off your face. When your instructor says, "Get the Targa. Good. Brake brake brake. Now get the Turbo!" it will be hard to resist smiling.

The dollars will soon be forgotten, but the memories never fade. Be safe and have fun.

You actually think this is going to get cheaper as time goes on? Ok.

When you're all done it's going make a cocaine habit seem like a small recreational problem.

You are now on the long slippery slope. Enjoy the ride.

The only only expenses mine really knows about are the confirmation emails from whichever club I'm driving with or the hotel I reserved. I am pretty lucky though, I think my wife gives me a hard time about the DEs only because she thinks she is supposed to but deep down inside I think understands how therapeutic these things are so it's not that bad around my house.

I can relate to this... After spending the last 6-12 months successfully skirting around the $$ questions, I accidently left a receipt on the kitchen bench. The receipt was from my mechanic for a part payment for my current motor rebuild. I managed to dodge this muttering something like it was a quote and so far it has worked..

We do though have an unwritten and unspoken agreement - she doesn't look too hard at what I spend on the car as long as I don't question the new additions to her wardrobe...

Maybe she is actually responsible, and looking out for your retirement, I don't know.

The fact is that you have a lot of stuff lumped together there. Much of it is maintenance.

Never, never add up all the costs and then divide by the number of minutes you are actually on the track. Takes some of the fun out of it. First DE- you have only just begun.

I got the humor and peed my pants laughing and for that I thank you! Wait till you have $80k in a car that you can sell for $20 - $25k. That represents about 25% of the Pelicans reading this!

You didn't know about the 9th commandment??
I found this very funny...and very true.

You could always sell off some of the older hobbies to help fund the new one...maybe some guns. I still remember finishing the last session of my first DE...the sky was more blue, the air smelled more fragrant, and I think I was about two inches taller....really.

Last DE/car swap & fang around track day cost us $50 each + some fuel
Which I guess makes up for paying 2-3x the up front cost of these cars downunder
It does help when you do your own maintenance...resulting in your better 1/2 offering a modicum of understanding & sympathy , at times...

Expenses on projects..........

When my wife wanted to have the kitchen renovated with new appliances, I told her why a new kitchen when the house was only 20 years and all the appliances still working!!!!! She replied to me....."Do you realize how much you spent on your 30-year old car? My kitchen renovation would not even come close to your expenses!!!!" So she had the kitchen renovated plus new appliances and we went to Australia for 5 weeks this summer. Remember, I was hiding all the receipts and purchases from her all these years. Wives have good memory. They might pretend to tolerate our hobbies but they keep track of the expenses.

I think you'll find the house keeping expenses might be quite crippling. The old ones tend to keep the house.
