I just ran across this thread.

WOW Chris! I need to see this in person. It looks like you live in my neck of the woods.

I've been trying to get us all together forever time to make it happen. You and Chris are no more than 20 mins apart.

I might have met Chris briefly at one of the XXX breakfast's awhile ago, but I've only been to a few over the years.

BL is a small town so we have to be close! I want to see your car as well

timmy2 03-22-2017 03:36 PM

20 minutes in Seattle, so that is what, 2 blocks? :)

kenikh 03-22-2017 03:41 PM

Dennis, don't worry, they live as close (spiritually) to Seattle as you live to Portland.

Hey pipe down! We aren't talking Seattle... we drive pick up trucks down here...not Prius's!

My next step at increasing air flow to the oil coolers. Now the bumper comes off to refine the cuts and work on the esthetics. I think the valence slats go well with the body lines. The bumper cuts will be hidden within the 1" black vinyl stripe.

Mock up first with masking tape and a sharpie. Free hand ended up being the best for the valence slats

Then the scary part...Start cutting! Pilot drill, hole saw, dremel and lots of filing and sanding...

Nicely done. Now for some Dremel finishing.

Chris, you are a brave, and talented guy. Been thinking of doing the same to my rear valence to reduce the sale effect. What you did is very similar to a car I am very partial. In fact I had the non-rally version with the same front slats.

Works great not even channeled yet.

Spent some time detailing the cuts, painting the edges and installing hexagonal mesh. Last step is to install the black bumper stripe

Hey where do you get the red front splitter? I've been looking for one.

quattrorunner 04-03-2017 10:50 AM

Steve, I got it on the ebay from Florida. It doesn't fit perfectly side to side so I centered it with the oil cooler inlet and the sides don't match up exactly. I'd have to section it to be perfect. It's off by 1/2 inch. Look to some well known west coast suppliers for one, I'm sure these days it'll be available. Got mine three years ago.

Top notch work as always, Chris. Are you going to do a tape line over it to mimic the trim and hide the holes a bit? apologies if thats mentioned, surfing on my phone.

cnielsen 04-03-2017 01:13 PM

Yes, already ordered. Should be installed by the end of the week and then the car is DONE!

quattrorunner 04-03-2017 01:29 PM

Job very well done. Like really well done..
