These are the only detail shots I have of the seats...

Those seats really shouldn't work, but they look amazing, great thinking there. The thing I love most about this thread is its name....another CHEAP (!!!) longhood, come on, it must be costing a ton of money to make all these supercool changes. Maybe another Value For Money Longhood would be more apt !

I'm not surprised, but I'm happy to see you took the bold steps to do the dash and door panels the right way, it's amazing to me how many backdaters I see who skip over the part of the car that the owner spends the most time looking at, the interior. And you nailed it. Great build. Of course. |

Waiting on the motor. All the G50 fitment is done so if anyone needs any specs, let me know. I shortened the bell housing via California Motorsports and it will still shift the motor BACKWARDS 3/4". I don't think there is any way around this if you plan to leave the torsion tube untouched.

Fantastic idea with the seats. I have been trying to decide what to do, as far as keeping the old look but still having the functionality of a race seat for track use. I think you have hit the nail on the head.

I guess I never posted any info on the G50 swap. My friend Keith has been helping me and I hinted to him that he should post some info but I'll go ahead and do it and maybe he can start a different thread specifically for the G50 swap.
My transmission is a G50/01 with a LSD. There are A LOT of things that need to be modified and I'll see if I can recall everything. We haven't done the final install so some measurements might change. Starting with the front of the car, we upgraded the master cylinder to 930 spec to go with the 930 calipers and installed a 87-89 brake fluid reservoir so it has the chamber and supply fitting for the clutch master cylinder on the pedal assembly. Grrrr... Since I updated my iPhone, I can't upload pics to pelican. I'll see what I can do to resolve this and continue the thread. |

Also note the hard hydraulic tube going through the tunnel. Then moving back to the shifter assembly... I started with a stock G50 shifter and installed a JWest set up which is a work of art and butter smooth! We did have to cut out one of the sheet metal supports in the bottom of the tunnel and make a slight dimple in the floor pan in order for the shifter to clear. From there, the G50 shift rod and coupler can go in. The rear portion of the shift rod is too wide to fit through the round access hole in the fire wall so we shaved down the edges of the shift rod slightly and it was able to slide in.

Then the shift coupler wont work in it's stock configuration. Patrick Motorsports used to make a lengthened one for use on the short bell housing (SBH) G-50 but they don't offer it anymore. So we had to modify the stock one and the length needed is yet to be determined but we had an idea so I cut the coupler in half and welded in some aluminum bar on both sides. I initially welded one side, that way I could slide the two halves to the desired length and then do the final weld on the other half.
