Recent upgrades...

1. Muffler valence. This really improves the esthetics of the rear of the car. I pride myself in noticing esthetic details on cars and the body lines of an early 911 depend on the original canaister muffler to finish off the body contours. Very happy with the esthetic results! Ceramic coating is expensive though!!! Custom fab work...even more expensive!!!!!!

2. Scavenge pump bypass line. No issues. No smoke as is possible with a traditional scavenge pump. I will be removing my scavenge pump very soon and selling it to Kenik if he still wants it.

3. Front skid plate/splitter/oil cooler duct. I wish I could have taken it for a more spirited drive but it was a good mix of boosted driving and stop and go traffic. I would say oil temps were about 20 degrees cooler when I had the ability to move at a respectable speed. So if I wasn't in stop and go traffic, temps stayed around 200-210 and I was trying to build up temps!

Wow,I just read through this whole build. Funny how the original direction of a project can change so dramatically. Impressive build.

But I have an observation...

I notice on your early front under tray photos it seems to cover the fuel tank, but on your final version, it's not part of the piece you used. It seems that it would be a rather large effort to build the under tank shape and then not use it. What's the story, there?

And the 100 litre tank. Did you not use that because it would interfere with the hard cross over lines for your oil cooler?

Agreed.

The plastic tanks hang down quite a bit further than the steel tanks. Then add a 1/4" air space and the thickness of the metal and it really reduces ground clearance. The fuel tank portion is removable so I just opted to leave it off for now until we figure out a solution which may entail switching to a steel tank. We'll see...

Both the front tray and rear exhaust cover are top notch in both design and execution, fantastic work.

If it were up to me, i would be flat black coating all the exhaust parts that are slightly visible under the new rear exhaust cover.

Really dig this whole car.

Just an awesome build.

I have to ask, is the license plate custom? Since it's a turbo charged car and has 934 in it along with pep? Or is that just a coincidence?

Chris what's up with the big tub coming through the floor on the passenger side? Did you do something special there? Beautiful! What attention to detail.

cnielsen 02-27-2017 10:28 AM

Will, the plate is an original WA plate that I luckily found for the car.

PJ, not sure what you are referring to. Copy a pic so I can let you know

Jonesy78 02-27-2017 10:32 AM

I think he meant to type "tube". I was wondering about the same thing. Just aft of the steering rack in the last picture posted.

Jonesy is right. The gray tube hanging below the floor just behind the cross member on the passenger side. It looks larger than I remember.

AC smugglers box condensation drain?

cnielsen 02-27-2017 11:39 AM

That's the drain hose for the fresh air blower. For whatever reason, we couldn't use he stock drain so we used a chunk of washing machine drain hose :)

One of my favorites. Gotta go back and re-read some of this stuff.

Chris,
Could you share the source of the rocker trim that you used?
Best
Chris J

cnielsen 03-09-2017 09:04 PM

It's a factory part for the 73RS. Available from any dealer but I use Sunset in Oregon....your neck of the woods.

cjannelli 03-10-2017 07:27 PM

Thank you!

Like everyone else I'll just say...amazing, amazing, amazing build.

What tires are you running? I have 7x16 and 9x16's too on my backdate too. I know your previous build was running TB15's. I went 16 because I thought there were more tire options at 16 than at 15...but the pickings at 9x16 are getting pretty slim too.

Bridgestone RE11 245 rear, 205 front, right Chris?

That's correct, same as your car. Seem to be great tires, so far I'm happy with them.

kenikh 03-11-2017 11:24 AM

About as good as it gets at this size for holding down that much power. It's still an exercise in futility.
