Went tailless today in an effort to see if the whale tail is contributing to keeping the oil temperatures a bit low in colder weather. It's clear to see how much less restrictive the whale tail and open deck lid combination might be when compared to the deck lid grill.

Now for some cold weather testing just as it's warming up again

Torqued Bjoints, installed SAW 21mm hollow TB's and fooled around with brakes a bit.

What did you do to your 911 today?

^^ watching closely because I'm nearly ready to re-assemble mine as well. Well, up until I was cock-blocked by the weather and no garage.

I gave our SC Targa a flat-top to get us through the rain and forecasted snow/freezing temps.

Disclaimer: to our east-coast brethren, I completely understand this is nothing as far as the cold temps and possible snow.. Having been in a drought these past couple of years this weather is a blessing. We're at an altitude that it's a PIA because we're in the shade and doesn't thaw out, 29 degrees and stable.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Drove it wingless to see if the wing is contributing to its low cold-weather oil temperature.

It might have made a difference but it was 37F out so not conclusive. We need it to get to 180F when it's 3.7F out.

Installed new door stays, plus the reinforcement kit. Glad I did it - the passenger side was ok, but the drivers side sheet metal was getting bent up and the old stay clicked every time I moved the door. I managed to straighten the metal out enough to get the plates installed and tightened everything firmly. I also modified the stays as per that link to the 993 forum to make them a bit less stiff. It all works nicely now. It's great to arm oneself with all this info before tackling a project.

Weird thing, though - the old passenger side stay (on bottom) was the original one, but the drivers side (top one) had been replaced with this one. Doesn't look familiar at all, though it functioned ok. Any ideas where it was from?

No clue unfortunately...

Question. I just had my shop install new door checks and do the reinforcement kit at the same time as a precautionary measure. Is any of the reinforcement kit visible or is it all on the inside of the door?

You should be able to see the outside reinforcement plate in front of door stay as it sandwiches the door skin.

Drove mine! Up in the hills behind Ojai on Hwy. 33, the views are breathtaking up here if you haven't been on this road before.

Cheers

Here is the new stay with the reinforcement plates installed. You can see the outer one under the screw heads, and the inner one is of course inside the door. The pin is not fully seated, yet.

My rear foglights were not working since I changed my valance from factory to fiberglass center cut-outs 6 months ago. I was trying to figure out what went wrong only to realize I just needed a ground from the fog light housing to the rear bumpers thru the rear valance bolt. Finally it's working. Simple fix and joy it can bring. lol

Installed a set of Magnecore wires. Runs better but now I know it's not the wires that are causing the missfire and crappy popping. I need to adjust the valves and rebuild the CIS. Stupid ice storm has put a halt to any work that can be done since the M3 is the only car in the one car garage. Wife's driver...happy wife, happy life as they say.
Kudo's to our host. I ordered the wires last Friday, received them on Tuesday only to realize that they sent me a set for a 924/944...uhg!!! Second time this has happened in as many months. First an oil hose and now this. I called and sent pics of the wrong parts. The correct wires were expressed overnight and on the porch Wednesday morning. Thanks Pelican and the helpful staff.
