Will you post a for sale thread or will you post them in this thread?

Most likely will start a new FS: thread. I want to end up with one FS: thread for all the LED boards. About mid-Jan I want to send the rear turnsignal boards to the fab too.
This thread is my development thread. Lots of conversation and new stuff we're working on. |

Re: DRLs - just bear in mind that along side the studies that claim safety benefits for DRLs, there are plenty of studies that refute those claims. Also plenty of people who have valid reasons for disliking them, and several organizations calling for the elimination of them. (Example - Association of Drivers Against Daytime Running Lights) I myself have mixed feelings towards them. As a former motorcyclist, I would not dream of riding without my headlight on. But in my cars, I'd like to think that I am smart enough to decide for myself when to turn on the headlights.
Regardless, now that DRLs are required in Europe, they are probably here to stay, like them or not.

DRL's were developed in Scandinavian countries with 6-8 months of twilight, during the long dawn and evening periods. What works for them may or may not work for us.
good luck, Dave

Finally got around to finishing the first prototype of the '69-'73 front turn signal board. Last step is to apply RTV to the LEDs and bend them to the correct angle to point forward when the board is mounted in the fixture.
![]() I tried a different method to space the LEDs off the board when soldering them. Seems to have worked out very well as they are very uniform in their final angle. ![]() I hope I've chosen the correct angle as I only have the fixture, not a car to go with it. The boards fit nicely in the fixture with the lens attached. ![]() And operation. I'm not impressed with the bulb sockets of this fixture. The fixtures are a 2 part system. The fixture is the casing of the socket and the contacts are on a separate piece which screws to the rear of the fixture. The slots for the bulb base knobs do not have a bottom thus it's possible to insert the bulb base backwards and have turnsignals on when running lights should be on. Once the bulb is inserted backwards and too deep, the contacts get bent down and when inserted correctly, the contacts do not touch the bulb base and the bulb does not light up. Oh yeah, with 72 LEDs this fixture is bright. Last edited by spoke; 12-23-2015 at 05:30 AM.. |

Spoke, I agree that those aftermarket early parking lights are less than desirable. Unfortunately too late to return. Maybe there is a way to do a mod to insert a proper socked. I may give it a go. Will send a PM after the festivities.
Happy Holidays. Johan

Spoke, will you be entertaining the idea of the 3rd brake light in the 86 and up cars?
Thanks and merry Christmas to all

It should be possible to insert a self-contained socket in the existing hole. The existing hole would need to be reamed out a bit to accept the new socket. I would take some customizing but it can be done.

Installed Jerry's LED brake lights last weekend.
These LED lights are much brighter than my old bulbs that were there before. I am impressed. The whole process from when I first asked Jerry about purchasing this LED brake lights to delivery was also smooth and quick. This has got me to thinking that now I need LED headlights too. |

In case anyone has troubles with the plastic parts shipped with these boards, I will make all the part files available on Thingaverse so you can print your own. If you have trouble with these parts or they get damaged, I would gladly replace them. If you want to do it yourself with your or a friend's 3d printer, find the parts here:

I'm interested in the whole shooting match for an '88 USA Carrera (with cruise control!) with standard amber front & red rear lenses & non-tail CHMSL.
I've read the entire thread. Is there a "kit" available yet? Front turn signals, all three brake lights and V2 rear side marker / running lights? Did I miss anything? I had tried the Philips units and my CHMSL and right brake lamp suffer from the dimly lit while ignition-on problem. See pic below. Interestingly enough, the same problem manifests ignition-off, when the Porsche battery maintainer is plugged in. I assume it's also because of the CC system. As an aside, the power windows work, ignition-off, key out, door open when the battery maintainer is plugged in. ![]() ![]() I have a set of Audette's JW Speaker LED headlights en route (E-code beam pattern, black housings & black buckets). I'll get around to a set of vintage style gauge LEDs too. I'm excited to be stepping into the new millennium of lighting technology. Thanks Last edited by famoroso; 01-05-2016 at 10:20 AM.. |

I believe he's referring to the light being dimly lit when the brake lights are NOT supposed to be illuminated. Spoke has addressed this issue (earlier in this thread) by adding a resistor to the led brake light to cause its current draw to more closely correlate to the original incandescent bulb. |
