Got my new hood crest decals today, had to match the one Hans had on the car from the 80s! Saves weight, adds speed! Lol

Awesome build and great thread. Viper green will be a sweet topcoat to this cool outlaw. Did you find an answer to the ball joint question?
|
Just got all my parts back from the platers, thanks to a friend I found a local Wisconsin company that did all this for $25!!!

Rear suspension and shocks back in, new bushings will make it drive as nice as it looks... started the front by installing the new 26mm sway bar vs. the stock 15mm... so much more fun putting stuff back together!
The front will look so much better! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1493593420.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1493593420.JPG The rear looks great too! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1493593532.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1493593532.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1493593532.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1493593532.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1493593532.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1493593532.JPG |
Front suspension and steering gear back in with new turbo tie rods. Getting closer to a road test!

Cool!
Thanks for the update! |
Rebuilt Front suspension, struts and new rotors on, added a strut brace too. After some cleanup of the trunk. It's getting there, brakes are next
Sadly Hans the old guy I bought it from came over today, it started great and ran nice, now it starts And then dies in 30 seconds! Ughhhhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494727529.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494727529.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494727529.JPG |
Video of Hans hearing the car run for the first time in 20 years! He loved the straight exhaust/zork tube!

Brakes painted and reinstalled today, everything torqued down and ready to bleed tomorrow. Car won't stay running all of a sudden, starts fine then stalls and the rear pump runs for a bit then stops, runs maybe 30 or 15 seconds...

Looks like the perfect project.
|
Awesome work, I can't wait to see it in viper green.
I am no expert on brakes, but I would think you would want the matching turbo brake calipers in the front. But hey it is easy for me to spend someone else's money :) Good luck with the motor issue, I have had my fair share of chasing gremlins like that and there is certainly a lot of good knowledge to be had here. |
Thanks I'm saving for front turbo calipers, I just bought a pair of Alfa 48mm ones for the front so they will work better when I get them rebuilt, same as S calipers. The rear turbos came with the car :-)

Great project. Wanna see the process.

Finally got the turbo on all 4 and running right with new fuel pumps and a few tweaks. First drive under full power was fun, still a lot to do, but with the suspension rebuilt, brakes rebuilt and the car running right finally I am getting closer... not to chase down some of the gauge issues and wiring...

Lots of progress toda! New wiring for front fuel pump (no back to the future wiring), new Rennshift shifter and coupler in, steering column rebuilt and wheel installed, fixed a rear stuck parking brake & installed my Fabspeed (I think) air filter housing... all in all a productive day! Amazing what the new shifter and coupler does to make shifting feel so much better, I couldn't even find what gear I was in before, now it's like butter!!
