3.0 rs
While you're building and tuning...i'm building and tuning.
I've just built a 3.0RS motor and installed it in Carlos D's 76S..........not a Speed Triple install, this one is Twm/Borla ITBs, 9.5:1 JE's, S-ish cams, SSIs, 2in/out sport muffler....Megasquirted.....1st tune in the car...tomorrow it hits the road for fine tuning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y9eNGyY9TE regards, alhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1508302965.JPG |
Awesome work al
I hope you don’t flip a belt .... :D |

I'm making my velocity stacks quite long now (120mm or longer) in order to hit the 2. harmonic tune around 6-7000RPM. Do you have any experience with this? |
Looks really outstanding!

yea....the belt is a little tighter now. |
Looks amazing Al!

Thanks.....The weather here has been windy and rainy....but when it clears I have been out driving and data-logging...just got back from a tuning run...this is a very strong running engine. I think it cooks as good as it looks!!

My previously mentioned dyno
Here is my dyno graph that I mentioned earlier in this thread.
The lowish overall numbers could be from a few things. Its basically an all stock '83 3.0. I don't know for sure what cams I have and so when i timed them i might have went with less than ideal settings. Might explain my torque curve. I have a note that reads "1.13mm" in my build notes. Dyno: Superflow Autodyn 4wd model http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1508208371.png You can see that little dip in torque from 4500-5000 due to the timing dropping below what was in the maps. We had messed with all the settings we could but still couldn't dial that out. The EPM is just not supplying the ecu with accurate info right there for some reason. However, That torque curve is nice and flat and the car feels great (not fast, but punchy). I'd like more pull up top but maybe cams are in my future! |
Good progress, Shaun. You're doing better than I am, i still haven't made it to the dyno yet.
Car is running great though. I cleaned up the fan and a few other things. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4550/...35a7dc05_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4561/...7b22067a_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4524/...f76e527d_c.jpg |
That looks super clean. I love your throttle linkage solution.

Finally found those velocity stacks. Really happy with the install. Engine is starting and running smooth - only tuning is left now

Those stacks are beautiful Nux. Do you have plans for any sort of filter?

3.2 L with cat bypass, M&M GT3 1x2, Triumph Speed Triple ITBs and Rassant AEM - finally got her to a dyno. I’m pleased at this point - weighing my options for the next stage!

The stacks look great - where did you find them? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

The shop showed me a fresh rebuilt 3.2 with cat bypass at around 187 RWHP. The HP increase is not much, but the torque improvement was around 45 lbft. Next stop for me is probably cams, maybe a little more compression. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

(http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/834369-ultimate-exhaust-resource-3-2-under-construction.html). I would expect 20HP gain or more from 1 5/8 headers on a 3.2 with EFI/ITB. Phase 9 exhaust could also be interesting. After installing 1 5/8 headers on my EFI tuned 3.2SS I saw significant change during tuning! |

So, this has me looking at headers. I have a Fabspeed cat bypass and an M&K GT3 1 in 2 out, but obviously still have the unequal length stock exhaust manifolds. We also did a few dyno pulls with the screens off the stacks and then with the stacks off completely. No surprise with no stacks ~40RWHP off. Without screens provided about 1 additional HP. We did these pulls because there was a big dip in AFR around 5000 RPM, right after a relatively large peak in AFR. We were trying to determine if that was a result of a harmonic in the intake or a restriction somewhere in the system. While the pull without stacks was off, it resulted in a very flat AFR curve - leading to the belief that it was a harmonic. While I’ve read a lot on tuning the intake runner length, it’s satisfying to watch it in action with the dyno. In the near future, I plan to take a couple of trumpet sizes in to test them out. And now probably with equal length headers! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
