Hi Guys, hi Clay.
Great thread, Thanks for alot, ive used loads of this info (and stuff that Al posted in the past) in my 2.7 triumph ITB project. its coming along nicely and the car runs but i have some idling issues and im not to happy whit the VE table, The VE might just take a while and i guess nothing runs perfect untill its been through the dyno. Question, what idle rpm do i aim for? cold/hot. (s-cam) Thanks again for a great thread and loads of inspiration. //jonas |

J-boy....This is a broad generalization, but I have found that many of the engines I've built with EFI/ITB setups...idle best at 1000-1100 RPM or so (higher than you may be used to) and I run the idle at 13.5 A/F or so. They're all a little different, but those values will get you into the ballpark. And although quite few of my customers have been to the dyno and they are definitely a good tool...I have never tuned on a dyno myself.

I idle at 1200 if the temp is < 100F and 1000 RPM above that temp.
I use this table below to trim the ign timing to fine tune the idle instead of modifying the main ign table. Set the target idle RPM table up first, synce ITBs and get it close to target with the throttle stops and then configure the table below to dial it in: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1507131562.jpg The table values aren't my actual, just an image i found quickly online. I think I have values about double these but not near the files at the moment. Many of the other idle tables seem to be mostly useful if you are running an IACV of some sort which I'm not. |

Im a few hundred rpm below that,,. aiming for 900ish. will try to get a more reliable idle at 1000-1100 with this in mind now. And i will take my VE to the street alot more before i take it to the dyno, not looking to optimize to the edge, just a nicer smother ride. ..let you know what this gives... // |

I'm almost done with my install now. It's has been quite easy to convert the Bitz EFI on CIS intake to Clay's ITB, with only very minor fitting issues. Started her up yesterday. Naturally, it needs to be balanced - but hey: It's alive again!

Sithot, Thanks I'll look into those, but I would like somewhat longer stacks (100-120mm) to get air harmonics around max 6-7000 revs (see earlier post). Maybe Al can comment on on the length of the stacks? According to the schematic I posted earlier - I would need appx 20-22inches from intake valve. This means I need very high stacks! |
