Porsche Crest Has anyone tried this cupholder from Pelican

I just received a promotional email from pelican advertising this specific cupholder. There are no reviews. I was wondering if anybody has tried this one?

Hmmm. Before I had my current cupholder, and back before I had RS door panels, I used to jam coffee cups into that space... didn't work so well because you had to remember to get the cup out before shutting the door.

I made a cupholder to fit on top of the center console handbrake cover out of some aluminum I covered with alcantara.

I got the promo email as well. I've seen a thread about it on here already (not recent) - I believe the cupholder in door pocket location was viewed as favorable over the few other options.

My interior is linen so I'm not sure that's the area I want hot coffee spilling in my interior.

My coffee mug jams securely between the front seats, though the best cup holder for a 911 is a good friend ( or attractive significant other) in the as sender seat enjoying the ride with you!

I like that location well enough for a cup, as others say you simply have to be careful about full cups and door movement. Also likely better for a lefty.

The wire cup holder which goes into the cigarette lighter works well.

However it too has it's quirks, I typically pull it out when I have passengers, because they have a habit of playing with it in the middle of a turn and distracting me. Or worse, making a point of hitting it when getting in.

I know for a fact it isn't in their way, something about the human condition compels people to strike out at inanimate objects when ever an poor excuse can be made. Turning it on it's side doesn't work either, they attack it like yellow jackets fighting over an abandoned doughnut at a cider mill.

Still beats getting coffee all over your self when closing the door.

My door pockets (1977) are made of cardboard and easily deform when exposed to moisture. I'd keep the possibility of spills away from them myself, a leaky Targa roof is exposure enough for me. I'll confess, I used to jam my cup in the door pocket, the left handed location did not fare well for my right handed ways.

Chuck.....

That sounds pretty sweet. Can you post a pic of the cupholder in your car and also out of the car if possible. I am worried about jamming something in those plastic side pockets and damaging it. The door closing thing could be very messy!!

Thanks

For $90 bucks it should ...... every time you use it. My wawa cup sits nicely right in the same spot, you just have to remember not to leave it there when you close the door.

I think my next Porsche cup holder will be a 2009 Cayman. Inside the clean interior is a long brushed metal thin strip that looks like art. You just touch the strip at a certain place and two very nice cup holders pop out. Amazing! I also have the black wire holder that goes into the lighter. Works fine.

It holds beverages securely but gets in the way of the window winder. If you've got electric windows, it would work nicely. No so much with my wind-ups.

We installed it in our in house 911 to test it out. Did really well to our driving "tests" and was a convenient location. Good quality and easy to remove/install. If you have any questions about it please don't hesitate to let me know.

I solve all this with a simple rule for ALL my cars:

This car is not a kitchen, restaurant, or picnic area. If you need something to eat or drink, do it before entry or after exit from the car.

Exactly.
Additionally, more accidents and deaths are attributed to eating in cars than those caused by texting. Google it.

I like mine! We got them last year and they work great with no installation necessary. Enjoy!

The great thing about having a cup holder in the door is closing the door with a lid less beverage. (Even with a lid, you may have a little clean up). Fool disclosure, I bought one anyway.

They do have a great pen holder feature too.

Now if it had a compartment for license and registration (and proof of insurance) it would be a real winner.

Well, I guess those days of simply being focus one's 911 while at speed are gone.
I'm sure some think that the Panameria is a true sports car..

Oh well, to each its own.
