Nice work. The light at the end of the tunnel for sure. Can't wait to see it on the road.

Holy cal. 58 pages! You know that requires an index, right?

59, now!! All I know is the MFI stuff starts around page 20

Well I'm happy to report I was able to save the spark plug connectors I have, especially considering purchasing anything these days is a challenge (for more than one reason!!!):

1. Spent an hour or so with an inspection camera and various implements to fish the remains of one connector out of my cylinder head.

2. Took 5 of them apart (well, 3 fell apart on their own). Last one wouldn't budge so I guess it passes torture test.

3.uncoiled the spring on the last turn just enough so that it won't fall out of the connector should they happen to fall apart again.

4. tweaked retainer clip so the connector is a bit easier to clip on and off a plug.

5. epoxy the whole works back together and re-install after measuring resistance on each.

Not happy about having to mess around with stuff that's junk, but I feel the fix is permanent and they will last years.

ALSO I think the alternator is ok. Turns out the light is on only after I first start the car, until I rev it up over 1500 or so, then it goes out and stays out? Have to research that one, maybe a loose connection? Come to think of it neither battery post is actually tight.......

Today I looked under the car for leaks,, NONE! Thank God for that!! Re-filled the oil after yesterdays drain while hot - it's surprising how much stayed in the car. I put 9 litres in and I bet only 4 or 5 came out! Never in danger of running low, mind you.

Did the first of many fiddles with the mixture screws, 4 clicks lean on the idle screw brought the AFR to 14.3 at 950RPM but it seems the engine prefers to be a little richer than that at idle. So, what it likes, it will get!

Anyway I'm going to resist the urge to run it too much now that it's good to go for road testing (and a proper break in). Going to concentrate on getting seat belts, seats, and rear windows in!

Go to their site and click on the "Notify me when this product is in stock" link and give them your information. I did and got an email a couple days later that they had some again, so I ordered one right away and it is now on it's way to me.

Jon - I'm in Vancouver with a set of plug wires from my SC. I'm a long way off of driving it, if you need me to send you stuff, happy to get it out to you. Will only take a few days.

Yeah, $129 or something. At that price I can afford to pick one up now with no specific use in mind at this point.

Wow, Maybe I'll pick up a spare just to have when the hydraulics give out. Are these things even repairable?

One thing I have read is that "over pumping" like when the jack won't go any higher but you keep trying, is hard on the seals. This one doesn't allow that to happen so maybe it will last better than most?

It was CAD 129.88. So that's what, about $22 in US dollars?

Door pocket covered

Here's a hilariously terrible pic of the driver's side door pocket, covered in vinyl.

The door top, handle and lid, and pocket, all have the same smooth/glossy vinyl surface to match the dash/kneepads etc. and this all extends back into the rear of the car where the side panels and rear deck are all finished in the same materials.

I really am having trouble taking a pic that would do this justice.

In other news, I've been unsuccessful in resisting the urge to start and run the car. All I've really proven is that it starts, and runs. Better get to work putting it together so I can prove that it drives!!!

Later!

Interior

Slowly getting the interior together. Been working full time on the car trying to get it together. I really want to get it all done with no loose ends before shakedown and break in.

Carpeting is in, I'd rather beat my head against a wall for 2 days straight that do carpet in a 911. It's like spending a few days trying to fit square and rectangular pegs in round holes. I managed to do a pretty decent job, if I don't say so myself, but it's hard not to get stuck on every little wrinkle. They seem to become less noticeable, the more interior stuff goes in. Or maybe it's the fumes from the glue!!

I'm reminded of why I did RS door panels and RS carpet and seat delete in the Rot Rod. I was probably done the whole job in the time it took me to do one door on this car!!!

This car is a full fat, full flavor, version of the 911 recipe. Rear seats and all. Today I wrapped up the seats install and attached the leather retaining straps for the seat backs, the luggage hooks on the rear deck, rear panel install, and ended up figuring out the seat mounting. A good day, and not a whiff of glue!!

The interior work is so worth it, I was not prepared how much work it is, but also didn't realize how satisfying it would be to get it together. The Salt and Pepper Hargaarn wool carpet is a slightly lighter shade of dark and plays off the contrast of the shiny black vinyl and the basket weave on the flat side panels and dash and seats. It really does look like a million bucks!!

You mean the handle? It's a reproduction one, IIRC. I think it might actually be a URO part. Quality is good.

Voila!!

I'm leading with this photo (more later) because it's really hard to capture the true look of the interior with my crappy phone. This picture does a pretty good job of it. Plus it's the view from the drivers seat!
