3.0 Liter CIS for PMO trade anyone?

Who would be interested in a trade of a CIS (complete) system that comes with 3.0 Liter SC engine?

I am trying to see if I can interest anyone in trading my CIS intake system for a pair of PMO's or a good set up like that. I have a 74 RSR (read: smog exempt) I am building up, and have a few months to decide if I want to go for the big power, or just keep it as-is.

If anyone has a need for the CIS, it is complete and I'll be posting pictures shortly. I have completely gone through it and made sure it's all good.

Anyone?

Questions? Comments? Offers?

If I don't get any takers... I'll just use it with 964 CAMS and go with it.

Considering the going rate for a CIS system is about $400 and the going rate for a PMO setup is nearly $3k, I think you might have a hard time finding someone to trade with.

btw, nice looking 74 project.

Woops!

Yea. I bet that would be a hard sell. I am obviously way off base.

I guess I'll just stay with the CIS. I wasn't sure what the CIS was worth.
Thanks for the heads up, and the compliment.

No PMO's for me... at least not anytime soon.

by the way....

If I know the motor I have is CIS, has stock everything from a 1980 SC... what compression do you think these pistons are that I have pictured in the photo gallery (and below) 8.5:1 or 9.8:1 as is listed on page 113 (top) of Wayne's 911 book?

Markings inside:

Those are 9.8:1 CIS pistons like the ones in a euro 3.0 930/10 engine

8.5:1 is probably right

I believe the pistons are 8.5:1. I wish they were 9.8:1, but according to the stamp on the case: 930/09 and the book Wayne's book on "How to build and modify..." on page 202... halfway down... clearly shows that the pistons that come in that engine... 930/09 are 8.5:1 - producing 188 HP @ 5500, and 265 n/lbs of torque @ 4200 max.

I think I will have to locate a match set of 9.8:1 pistons and cylinders if I want to get the most out of the 964 cam grinds.

Bad news for me, good news for anyone needing to sell a set.

KNOW anyone looking to sell a set?

Thanks!

Yes I agree with you that they don't go in the 1980 engine but maybe this motor was rebuilt before with 9.8's?
Heres some pics I used when I was IDing pistons when i built mine. I went from the Alusil 9.3's to Mahle 9.8's

Maybe others will chime in on what you have there

Perhaps not 9.8's. You pocket is too ill defined and the number is wrong. My '82 Euro had the following on the inside of the piston:

Markings:
95L70
++ (weight group)
C021

Yours do not match any of the 3 pics Vin has there either. My 9.8's look more like Vin's 9.5 Euros with the sharply defined flat area.

Best regards,

Michael

PS: Should move this question to Engine Rebuilding and out of Classifieds

guys-
Sorry to make this even more confusing. That 9.5 was a typo, that is indeed a 9.8 piston like Mike suggests

So I am still unsure, but it looks like the ones I have match the 9.5 or 9.8 closer than a 8.5....

Either way it looks like I am probably going to be happy with the ones I have. I am not going to miss that much HP if I stick with the current pistons. Looks like the motor had been worked on, if the 80 came with 8.5's

P.S. How do I move this question?

The question is now under motor rebuilding...

8.5 or 9.8:1 Pistons?
