WTB 915 output flanges, '85.5+
These are the 108mm flanges with 6x10mm bolts. I'd be interested in multiple pairs of these...

I've moved on to modifying G50 flanges. I think the ship has sailed on the 85.5-86 flanges

I have some flanges laying around. Is there a part number? Would I measure 108mm as in bolt hole pattern?

In a word no! The 930 flanges will NOT work with the 85.5-86 large axles. Been there ,tried that and no joy. They will not fit the 85.5-86 CV joint which has a tin cap on it. See pic, middle one without a gasket is the 85.5-86. They have become rare as hens teeth, and Porsche84 is correct on machining G50 flanges.

Well uwanna is partially correct. The 86 930 flanges are the same as the 85.5-86 Carerra flanges. The earlier 930 flanges also had a hole in the spline end to go over a boss in the diff and I am not sure if the length was the same. Here are some photos. First is a pair of 86-930, you can see the part number. Next is a G50 flange beside a 915 fine spline. I had a machine shop shorten the G50 and widen the relief after the spline (no photo of those). I'll try to dig out a set and take photos

in my '80SC I searched for the '85.5-86 108mm flanges with no luck, so I found a set of earlier 108mm fine spline 930 flanges. Problem with them is they won't fit over the CV joint "tin caps". They are however the same length on the spline shaft and will bolt right up. I later luckily found a correct set of the '85.5-86 flanges, and all is good now!

Did similar thing with my 3.6 in 84. The 85.5 - 86 flanges are becoming very hard to find. I bought an 86 trans just to get the flanges.......

Yeah, I was just hoping against hope that I wouldn't have to modify the G50 part. The 915 part number for the late flanges is 91533220912, BTW. I guess I'll buy whatever I can and machine a big batch.
Jerry, thanks for the photos. I will be using 930 axles and one thing I'm now confused about is why uwanna's axles with end-caps didn't fit -- I wasn't aware that there was a 930 axle that didn't have an end-cap. For that matter, I guess I will have to check that the 930 axle didn't change for compatibility with the G50 flanges... |

The flanges that Determined posted look lie 930 flanges up to 84 and will not accept axles that use the tin caps.
reddogmotrsprts, before you buy 930 axles, check the outer flange. I'm not sure the 930 axles will bolt to 911 outer drive flanges, unless you have 930 trailing arms. If you are looking to get stronger axles (108 mm CV) I've used the 85.5-86 axles. These have the outer flange sealed to the axle. They hold up really well. I have a 300+ hp 3.6 in my car with these axles Here is the Porsche tech bulletin. Determined's 930 flanges are on the left. The 85.5 flanges are the same as the later 930 in the center. You can see that early 930 hubs do not have as big a cavity as the middle one, to make room for the tin cap. ![]()

Ok folks, correction to several previous posts. Output flange p/n 91533220912 is NOT a108mm flange. That is the p/n for the 100mm 8mm bolt fine spline for late '70s thru the SC.
The 108mm late flange is a 930# 93033220903. or 93033220905

I was under the impression that all the 930 axles had caps, though I suppose the -'77 axles might not. I have (at least) two sets of 930 trailing arms, one of which is dated '86, and I have another set from a '79 on the way. My axles (also on the way) have caps; supposedly, they are also from a '79.
Am I misremembering this, or did the early 930 flanges have a shorter set of splines -- not recommended for the 915? I'd have to check my notes... With respect to the flanges with the part number I posted, can anyone else verify the part number? I was pretty sure that part number is for the later flanges (#2 in the diagram) -- Jerry, are you sure those are actually #1? The mating surface does look like #1, what with that stepped ridge. Name your price, Determined, sounds like you can command top dollar. :-) |

I guess I transcribed the wrong part number at some point. When I Google that number, I do get an *********** page for the '84-86 915 (and the SC).
Are you running 930 arms and tin caps, uwanna? Did you notice that the splines were shorter? I assume you are running the 930 seals... Thanks for the help, everyone. ![]() |
