Thanks Guys, I apprecaite all the comments.
engine # starts with an 8 so is German Spec. It does have a MPH speedo so I did suspect if it was an American Serviceman who bought it and returned to the states with it. The lights are actually H4's like I have in my Carrera 3.0 and are RHD Lights. Jaems : Thanks for the confirmation about the decklid. Mine was built April 1966 and delivered in June 1966 so I suspect it has had this lid and badging since new. Whats the deal with the 4 screw / 2Screw horn grills? what should it have on it? 2 Screws? |

The electric powered antenna is placed on the right fender because of the simple reason that under the left one there is no room for the antenna motor, because the fuel filler neck resides there. The motorized antenna has to be positioned in the fender in contrary to the manual antenna which is slim enough to be positioned in the gap behind the A-pillar.
Originally the antenna was placed at the drivers site to enable the driver to adjust the length antenna without leaving the car. To prevent for vandalism the antenna can be pushed completely in the fender. This type head lights is also available in a European version with replacable H4 bulbs. As I said in one of my previous posts, you'll need the two screw version. Otto Last edited by Otto H. Wegkamp; 03-01-2013 at 03:48 PM.. |

wasserkuhl ,
This might help to determine if that decklid is orig. to that chassis (with those emblems). Can anyone verify if Reutter bodied 912's have decklids with the last three Chassis Nr. digits stamped in ? If so , how late in production ? On 911 models (Reutter produced bodies only) , this was done (along with doors & fenders......have not heard of hoods stamped) until sometime in 1967MY (I think this ended sometime in 1967 MY / 2nd half.....1967 production year of 1967MY). If it can be determined that these 912 body pieces (again , would be Reutter only) were also stamped....and also determined this procedure was done into 1967MY as with 911 model Reutter bodies. Then all wasserkuhl has to do is look for the last 3 digits on centerbar of decklid (facing outward torwards grill ...at one end or other ...I think roof end) , and if there ...AND no filled early badge holes. Then this car , for certain , came with later style emblems. Last edited by RatBox; 03-01-2013 at 06:49 PM.. |

The car is in transit from where I bought it from, I will only be able to verify this next thursday when I collect it from the Trucking company. It is a Porsche Body , which I understand was Reutter beforehand. The Chassis # dictates its a Porsche Body and not Karmann. I will have a look for the last 3 digits. It doesn't have holes for the old emblems, I did check that! |
