Keeping the sun away is probably your priority. I might research those aluminum tubing framed enclosures with some sort of poly/canvas coverings. If you may go this route watch out for high winds. we currently have a '75 914 in the shop now from Cali, most of the original paint has been burned off from the sun, it was probably parked outdoors for many years

I ordered a Motor Trend car cover. The California Car Cover Superweave item I have had for one year did not meet my expectations under rainy conditions.

I wouldn't use a traditional car cover for outdoor use. I worked with a guy who had a concours (kinda) Mercedes SL. He used a car cover that he left on during a wind storm. Some dust got under the car cover and sanded the paint down on one fender to the bare metal. He cut it up and threw it away. The cover not the fender. LOL

Since I live in Southern CA and the sun eats car covers like crazy, another racing buddy who had to keep his car outside said to use 2, yes 2 covers. So, I bought a high-end waterproof cover which was expensive as all possible and a cheap one from Pep Boys to go over the good cover. The cheap one would last a year and a half usually and they were $20 to $25 so I would get another one so the good cover would not rot!

After a few days of rainfall, I have checked under the Motor Trend car cover and have not found any water on the body of the car, the windows are not fogged on the outside, and the instrument lenses on the inside of the car are not fogged.

Call me crazy but the sliver covers from Amazon are surprisingly good. Waterproof, and they have some straps that keep the cover on in wind. They do a good job for sun protection.

Motor Trend offers two different styles of car covers for the 914 Porsche. There is one that costs $74.24 and another that costs $64.64. I bought the one for $64.64.

I've stored my 914-6 for years outside. Couple of hints. Use bungee cords to tension the cover and prevent flapping. Extra grommets can be added. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=1%2F2+inch+brass+grommets&crid=ZUR97G9P5KE&sprefix=1%2F2+inch+brass+%2Caps%2C138&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_9_15 I sometimes also use 9x12 plastic drop cloth under the cover to give extra protection to cab and engine

I also bought the $74.24 cover. It uses two types of material. The top layer is an aluminum look and the bottom layer is soft material. It is more bulky than the less expensive cover. There are only two seams and they run the length of the car cover. The seams are welded. There has been no leakage for the last few months that it has been raining here in California.
