Where do these wires go?
I can't seem to figure out how to get at the wires that run through the beveled rubber boot in the door - they just sort of disappear into the body. I didn't feel anything coming out behind the fender, and the area behind the rug in the kick-panel / foot well seems solid.

Can you post a pic?
What area of the car are you? The floor area of the passenger side has a plywood piece under the carpet that covers the DME & is full of wires there.

Trying to work for parts!

I know the drivers and passenger area's very well.
Passenger side goes through the body about 2", then goes up and then comes into the car. Driver side does pretty much the same thing. If you take the switch out for the rear hatch you can put your fingers in and feel some of the wires. What are you trying to do?

![]() Photo says it all. I've got a rouge stereo wire that I'm wanting to relocate, as I'm fixing to install a component speaker setup into the door and I'm going to have about 4X that many wires that need a better home than dangling in the door-jamb

Remove carpet in RH side of pic. You'll have to take the hood release off first, but that's just a screw or two IIRC. The weatherstrip on the door jamb will have to come of, too (the trim on the carpet is tucked into it). Then the door panel. That should be it - you can get to the inside of each, or at least see enough to use the bellows. Of course, you could just take the dash out...

Yes I agree,
The number one rule for anyone doing wiring for speakers and components...get all the carpet out of the way. It does add extra work, but you will never get a clean install unless you remove all the carpet...when I installed the stereo system in my Saab, I took the passanger seat out and all the carpet on one side of the car was completely pulled up...it is worth the extra work, that way you can zip tie the wires and make a nice clean install, instead of trying to cram wires in places they do not want to go...bottom line, take all that carpet out and get to work ![]() Quote:

I tried doing that the first time around, but as you can see, it failed, LoL. That was the only spot where wires are apparent, but they do run under the seats and whatnot. The thing the bugged me about pulling the carpet is that it's all glued in, and I didn't want to have it all pulled away from the floors and such. I will certainly give it more thought though, as the rouge wires do bug the hell out of me, and I'm fixing to re-do everything I did wrong last time as soon as I rebound financially from my parts-failure extravaganza last week.

it looks somone got lazy and didn't want to rewire the car correctly. The factor speaker wire is good tho you could use better did work great for me with my 45rms x4 amp. what i would do is find out where those speaker cables end up at( not the speaker end but that to the radio) it's posible the speakers were wired for an amp. if that was the case the factory or aftermarket radio wouldent power the front speakers. If it's bugging you that much pull off those original speakers and see if that aftermarket wire is connected to it and ensure the stock wire is still there. And if you luck out and that new aftermarket wire is connected behind the stereo you could just slowly tug on it untill you can pull it all out. Either way the stock wiring of the speakers is a little wierd b/c of the fader switch but that's an easy fix and will save you time.
I actualy made custom panels with 6.5 components and i used the stock wiring and a little hardwiring or wiretaping here and there

If you clean up the metal where the carpet was and use a good quality contact adhesive spray, taking up the carpet isn't too bad. You can hide wires under the door runner (long black plastic trim piece on bottom door jamb) and tuck them in elsewhere as best you can, but I agree with the 'take the seats out and hide wiring under the carpet' method.
Getting the seat mounting bolts out can require some witchcraft, and be very careful not to cross-thread them when you put them back in. They strip VERY easily.
