I busted out the Aircraft Paint Remover on the PD. Ghetto paint bubbled off. Underneath is the stock Silver paint and under that is the White Primer. Way too much work. I really love my rims and would hate to put other rims on there. I may stick to the powdercoating idea, but will get other quotes.

Sand them smooth, no need to go to the bare metal if you don't need to, and spray.
Two good reasons, Cheap and easy. You can change your mind and try something else, different color, different paint etc. and different styles, all black vs polished bits etc. |

Well, anything is easier, especially this, and if you have the money to farm it out, so be it. They are a major part of the look of the car.
The boxter wheel question was handled well, above. They fit, they're fine, but even the 17's are constructed so that the wheel itself sticks-out past the tire, so it could collect curbs if you ever parallel park. Watch offsets, mine are 55's, they are fine. We can cover that subject before you buy, no need to confuse things now. MP, I just want to say I am very happy for you. The engine sounds fine. Enjoy, and be prepared for frustration, cause stuff will break and stop you dead, spend and fix it, drive on and enjoy. Thats the cycle. I've got the proverbial 10K tied up into a car that nobody could sell for more than 4K. Sunday, the fuel pump failed. Next week, I'll be back on the road.

I PAinted my wheels with DUpli-color "Metal effects" paint. A dark gunmetal with silver flakes. Almost black. It has a slightly textured finish which hides a lot of flaws. I have gotten more compliments on the wheels than I can count. And a touch up job is $6.
Light sanding, 2 good primer coats, and 2 coats of paint. Finished off with a light coat of clear. $20 total and maybe an hour a wheel. Camera phone doesn't do them justice.

Thanks Landseer! I am overjoyed that with the help of others, I was able to finally get motivated again. I was losing hope. I know the joys of old used cars, always breaking but are fun as hell to drive. No worries, this is not my daily driver by far. I have my ricer GST Turbo Eclipse, which has been very reliable so far.
Hey N2O, those rims look sweet. Exact look I wanted to portray less the yellow. I also wanted to do something different with my calipers, instead of red or yellow, I chose blue to be different. N2O, post some full car with better resolution pics.

I started on working on the safety things before I take it on the street. I replaced the front rotors and pads. While I was in there I painted the calipers blue. Working on the fronts then move to the rears. I also took a pic of my master cylinder, stupid me, I pulled the reservoir up to see if it was loose and now it seems like its not on correctly. Are these sealer grommets replaceable?

I seem to remember the grommets on somebody's parts list, but short of that you're looking at replacing the entire master cylinder assembly----probably be a good idea to do it anyway.....?

Here's the grommets. When I bumped my reservoir a few weeks back they started leaking. No biggy to replace, just bleed everything after.

I was cruising around the block trying to get my air/fuel mixture right. Not much luck getting that right but my brakes held up pretty good. I may bring it to the auto mechanic recommended by SoCal928 Forums. I'm going to check the rear brakes tomorrow. Are the hand brake shoes readily available still?

The 81 Euro is CIS, right?
Here's a couple threads on setting the mixture on a CIS that helped me out. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=232089 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=185926 |

Hey Leo,
How was it getting the car on the road? That's quite a milestone... Al |

It was little scary, especially since I live on a slope. I did redo the front brakes (new rotors and pads) and after testing it, I figured the backs were ok for testing purposes. Right now, there is a slight miss on takeoff, but disappears once rpms are up. I can't seem to get the Air/Fuel ratio correct. Although, I get a different look with my car actually parked the other way after almost a year with it backed in. After seeing your 928, I can't believe what a deal you got.
