Odometer step motor test.
Hi guys,
My odometer stopped working so I took it apart and noticed that all the gears were in place but the step motor gear was not aligned correctly so it simply stuck. I have mounted it correctly but before putting it all back together in the car I wanted to test if the step motor working correctly. Is there any way to "manually" operate this step motor in some way? I just dont want to put the instrumental panel back in the car and then find out that it is not working correctly. Any ideas? Thanks!

There are a few threads out there, with Dwayne's garage having one of the better ones...seems like you might have to shim it...Google Dwayne's garage....

Hi.
Check out this thread, a lot of info on the subject, including how to test motor. Odometer not working, gears intact. - Rennlist Discussion Forums Paal |

I would not go to the trouble of taking it apart and not replace the known failure gears.

The gears were replaced about a year ago with new ones. The problem was not a broken gear but a bad alignment of the step motor so the gears couldnt be moved.
